Skills
About the role
We are on the lookout for a Chief Java Developer to join our team.
You will build and support microservices-based applications running on Java, Spring Boot, and cloud technologies, crafting clean and efficient code, teaming up with fellow engineers, and following best practices for quality, scalability, and performance. You will become part of a mature blended team made up of EPAM and the customer's engineers, focused on evolving Identity Management solutions for the customer's enterprise platform. This is a cooperative and fast-paced setting where transparent communication and client engagement matter as much as technical mastery. You will work directly with customer stakeholders, so polished client-facing skills will be a decisive factor for succeeding in this position.
Responsibilities
Plan, implement, and support high-performance backend microservices using Java and Spring Boot together with Spring Security
Build and sustain OAuth2, authentication, and authorization flows within the customer's Identity Management platform
Help with front-end development work when needed, supporting the team in shipping complete end-to-end features as an additional contribution area
Partner closely with customer engineers and stakeholders, clearly sharing technical choices, progress reports, and any blockers
Take part in code reviews, promote best practices, and engage in architectural discussions while collaborating in a paired programming setup
Interface with identity-related components such as token management, user authentication flows, and session handling
Function within an Agile and Scrum delivery approach, actively contributing to sprint ceremonies and backlog refinement work
Confirm that solutions consistently meet security, scalability, and performance goals across the whole platform
Requirements
A minimum of 7 years of applied professional experience in software engineering
At least 2 years in a people management or team leadership role, directing a team of 8 or more FTEs

Solid hands-on experience in RESTful API design and development
Applied exposure to OAuth2, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and related authentication and authorization frameworks
