Senior Systems Engineering Senior Specialist– Application Packaging

Experience

9–12 years of experience in enterprise application packaging and deployment.

Role Overview

This role leads application packaging delivery and acts as an L3 escalation point for complex packaging and deployment issues.

Key Responsibilities

Lead complex application packaging and MSI/MSIX transformations.

Resolve DLL conflicts, registry issues, and advanced installation problems.

Design automation solutions for packaging and deployment efficiency.

Mentor junior team members and review packaging quality.

Design, create, and test software packages using MSI Package Builder\PSADT\Powershell scripting, ensuring compatibility and adherence to organizational standards.

Work with SCCM team for software distribution, application deployment, and patch management, optimizing the desktop environment.

Implement and manage Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) for virtualized application delivery, ensuring seamless integration with end-user systems.

Develop VBScript scripts to automate and streamline packaging processes, enhancing efficiency and reducing manual efforts.

Collaborate with application owners, IT teams, and stakeholders to gather requirements and understand software packaging needs.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to application packaging, working closely with support teams and end-users.

Maintain an updated library of software packages, ensuring compliance with security and compliance standards.

Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in application packaging, including MSIX, and evaluate their applicability to improve packaging processes.

Required Skills

Application packaging using MSI/MSIX formats

AdminStudio, InstallShield, Advanced Installer

PowerShell scripting (PSADT), basic automation

Windows 10/11 application testing

Proven experience as a Packaging Engineer with expertise in MSI Package Builder, SCCM, App-V, and VBScript\PSADT and PowerShell scripting.

In-depth knowledge of Windows operating systems and desktop management tools.

Experience with MSIX packaging and deployment.

Strong scripting skills, particularly in VBScript, for automation of packaging processes.

Proficiency in SCCM for software distribution, application deployment, and patch management.

Familiarity with Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) for virtualized application delivery.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Understanding of SCCM / Intune / MECM

Good communication and documentation skills

Minimum Education

Graduation / Engineering degree

Key Responsibilities Build scripting solution using Powershell, WMI scripting, Graph API and SDK.

Design and create application packages using MSI/MSIX standards for deployment via Tanium Deploy.

Develop PowerShell scripts to support packaging, deployment automation, and Tanium-integrated workflows.

Use Tanium Interact and Tanium Inventory to perform real-time endpoint querying and software audit across the enterprise.

Test applications on Windows 10 and Windows 11 environments, validating compliance through Tanium endpoint data.

Manage and monitor patch cycles using Tanium Patch, ensuring endpoint hygiene at scale.

Support Intune/SCCM deployments and troubleshooting as secondary platforms alongside Tanium.

Contribute to automation initiatives leveraging Tanium Connect and API integrations."
