POSITION OVERVIEW

At BDC, the only bank dedicated exclusively to Canadian entrepreneurs, we support the growth of small and medium-sized businesses across Canada. As a Commercial Account Manager, you will manage a portfolio of entrepreneurs while actively generating new business through your professional network. Your work contributes directly to the success of Canadian businesses, typically with sales up to $3M, by providing financing solutions and advisory services adapted to their needs. CHALLENGES TO BE MET

In this role, you will:

Meet with entrepreneurs, existing clients, and prospects to understand their business models, financial situation, and challenges, and provide relevant advice

Identify and recommend appropriate BDC financing solutions and advisory services based on client needs

Execute a structured action plan aligned with Business Centre objectives to grow and retain a portfolio of clients

Build and maintain a pipeline of new business opportunities through prospecting and relationship management

Analyze financial information, exercise credit judgment, and prepare, negotiate, and present financing proposals

Actively participate in the local business community (e.g., chambers of commerce, business associations) to develop relationships and generate referrals

Represent BDC as a trusted financial partner to entrepreneurs in the North Vancouver area

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Required Qualitifications

Bachelor’s degree in finance, commerce, business administration, or equivalent professional education or experience

1–3 years (or more) of experience in business development, sales, or client relationship management

Experience working with entrepreneurs, small businesses, or commercial clients

Ability to understand financial information and use data to support recommendations and decisions

Experience conducting client meetings using active listening techniques

Proven ability to identify business needs and issues and translate them into actionable solutions

Demonstrated customer service skills with a track record of building and maintaining client relationships

Strong negotiation skills with evidence of achieving concrete business or sales objectives

Well‑established professional network within the local business community

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities within a structured sales or portfolio environment

Ability to work collaboratively with internal partners and external stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

Experience analyzing and presenting commercial financing proposals

Prior exposure to credit analysis or credit decision‑making

Active involvement in business associations, chambers of commerce, or entrepreneurial networks

Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
