Job Overview

The Institute of Knowledge (IOK) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Software Engineer to join our team. This is a Full-Time position based in San Jose, California. As a key member of our technical team, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining the software infrastructure that supports our diverse range of Islamic educational programmes. You will contribute directly to our mission of fostering a finer future by creating high-quality digital solutions that connect our community with essential Islamic resources, from our accredited school to our online seminary courses.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement software solutions for our educational platforms, including online learning systems and administrative tools.

Maintain and enhance existing web applications, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and user-friendly.

Collaborate with educators, administrative staff, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in accordance with best practices.

Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and technical issues in a timely manner.

Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from initial concept and design to deployment and support.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and technical architecture.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Proven experience in a software engineering role, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.

Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java.

Solid experience with front-end and back-end web development frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Django, Node.js).

Strong understanding of database technologies, both SQL and NoSQL.

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

Superb communication and teamwork abilities, with a capacity to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

A genuine interest in the education technology sector and an appreciation for the mission of the Institute of Knowledge is highly desirable.
