Founding Platform Engineer
Skills
About the role
About Omni Octa Most compliance software is built around documents.
We believe compliance should be built around reality.
Every day, engineering teams make design changes, merge code, update requirements, close tickets, modify risks, approve tests, and release software. Traditional compliance systems often discover these changes weeks or months later, forcing teams into manual documentation, compliance catch-up, and audit preparation.
We're building something different.
Omni Octa is creating the AI-native compliance orchestration platform for regulated engineering.
Instead of asking people to manually keep systems in sync, our platform continuously understands what's happening across engineering, determines the regulatory impact, orchestrates the right actions, and keeps compliance up to date automatically.
We're starting in medical devices—a field where our founders have personally taken products through FDA clearance and EU MDR certification—but our ambition is much bigger. We believe every regulated engineering team deserves software that works with them instead of creating more work.
We're working closely with our first design partners and are now looking for one of our first engineers to help build the company from the ground up.
If you enjoy solving hard technical problems, building products from scratch, and having a real say in how a company evolves, we'd love to talk.
What You'll Build As one of our first engineers, you'll help shape the core of the platform, including:
Integrations with Jira, GitHub, document management systems, eQMS platforms, and other engineering tools
Event ingestion and normalization pipelines that transform engineering activity into regulatory signals
The workflow engine that turns detected events into reviews, approvals, CAPAs, risk updates, and other compliance actions
A compliance state machine where every transition is explicit, traceable, and auditable
Cryptographically verifiable audit trails that customers can rely on during inspections and regulatory submissions
Customer-facing dashboards and workflow interfaces
Core services supporting our regulatory knowledge graph and orchestration platform
Infrastructure that is reliable, explainable, and built for regulated environments
What Success Looks Like Within your first year, you'll help deliver:
A production platform running with our pilot customers
Live integrations with major engineering systems
Compliance workflows operating in real-world environments
Automated audit-ready evidence generation
Technical foundations that will shape the future of the company
About You We're not looking for someone who ticks every box. If you're excited by the mission and enjoy building ambitious products, we'd love to hear from you.
Ideally, you:
Have built and operated production software
Understand distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and long-running workflows
Think about reliability, consistency, observability, retries, and failure handling as part of everyday engineering
Have strong Python skills and solid database fundamentals
Enjoy working across backend, infrastructure, and product
Are comfortable making decisions in fast-moving environments
Like talking with customers and turning real problems into elegant software
Enjoy taking ownership and making things happen
Nice to Have
Experience in regulated industries such as medical devices, healthcare, aerospace, finance, or cybersecurity
Experience building workflow engines or orchestration platforms
Familiarity with graph databases such as Neo4j
Experience building AI-enabled products
Our Technology Stack Python • FastAPI • PostgreSQL • Neo4j • AWS • React • TypeScript • LLM infrastructure
Our stack will continue to evolve, and you'll play a major role in deciding where it goes.
