About the role
Data Scientist | €50-120k DOE (hiring at most levels)| Hybrid — Berlin (2–3 days onsite)
We're partnered with one of the world's most recognised management consultancies — a firm consistently ranked in the top 5 globally, with deep roots in financial services and a rapidly growing Data & Analytics practice operating across Europe. If you know the consulting landscape, you'll know who we're talking about.
They're not hiring generalists. This is a specialist quantitative team, embedded within a global firm that sits inside one of the largest professional services groups in the world — with all the resource, client access, and brand weight that comes with it. Projects span financial services, climate & sustainability, energy, retail, and transportation.
What you'll typically be working with:
Languages: Python, R, SQL, SAS, SPSS
ML & modelling: scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, XGBoost
Data platforms: Databricks, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, Spark
Tooling: Git, dbt, Airflow, Docker
Practices: Model validation, experimentation frameworks, stakeholder-ready communication
What you'll be doing:
Leading data-driven projects end to end — hypothesis development, data collection, model creation, and delivery
Surfacing insights and presenting findings to senior client stakeholders
Coaching and developing junior team members
Travelling roughly 50% of the time, split between client site and remote — individual needs considered
Working directly in client teams to deliver to a high standard
What we're looking for:
A degree in Maths, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Data Science, or Engineering — Masters or PhD common but not required
3–8+ years working with real, messy data and shipping models that get used
Experience in consulting, top-tier banking, or a specialist financial institution
You can explain what your model does and why it matters to someone who didn't build it
Fluent English; additional European languages a plus
