Position summary: A Senior Project Manager in the Federal Market Sector will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing activities on single or multi-discipline projects of moderate to large scope involving architecture, engineering, planning, interior design or other areas of the firm’s practice. Senior Project Managers are also responsible for mentoring and overseeing the work of Project Managers.

Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance. Due to federal contract requirements, only candidates who meet U.S. government eligibility requirements for a Secret Security Clearance will be considered.

Compensation for this position is $115,000 - $170,000, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. Essential functions and responsibilities:

Knowledge of Federal processes and criteria necessary to effectively lead, motivate, and communicate with a project team during scope and project execution

Working with the Principals and Design Managers to develop and present projects to clients, contractors, project team members, AHJ's, and members of the public through all stages of the project

Coordinating with Federal clients to ensure successful completion of projects that may involve either new construction or renovation

Facilitating a professional and successful relationship between Federal client, contractors, and the project team

Running project meetings and participating in management meetings

Actively support Principals and Marketing in the Company’s Federal marketing and business development activities

Preparing contracts and fee proposals for review and participating in contract negotiations on large projects

Ensuring staff compliance with quality control policies and procedures

Developing and managing project planning, budgeting, and critical project objectives

Verify project consultants are properly licensed and insured

Managing the work, training, and vacation of project staff

Assemble staff for project teams with input and concurrence from Principals, Department Directors, and Department Heads

Working with, responding to, and taking direction from Principals and senior management

Mentoring and developing Project Managers

Ability to travel is required

Project responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Perform Principal duties as assigned

Monitor scope/schedule creep for potential additional services

Provide weekly progress reports to Federal Clients

Maintain project documentation in electronic form

Assemble and maintain design discipline sheet mock-ups and work plans

Prepare and monitor project budgets and schedules with input from each discipline and consultants

Facilitate project team meetings to review project scope, project progress, and schedule issues as well as team coordination, coordination with consultants, and problem solving

Review RFI and shop drawing submittal responses for appropriateness and completeness

Prepare draft monthly invoices, 12-month invoice projections and monitor accounts receivable

Review and approve project related expenses and consultant invoices

Assemble and review design “milestone” submittal deliverables and ensure completeness and quality of the submittal

Perform project closeout and archiving tasks

Schedule QC/QA reviews

Schedule and/or conduct periodic site visits during construction

Required Skills

A Senior Project Manager will typically have significant experience as a Project Manager in a leadership role in the areas of the firm’s practice

Senior Project Manager will have demonstrated skills and abilities to mentor Project Managers, lead large projects, and develop new business.

Previous experience with Federal projects may be given additional consideration.

Ability to prepare effective and concise documents

Possess technical precision and creative design skills

Ability to make presentations to a variety of groups

Have a client-oriented attitude with a desire to provide outstanding professional services

Be dedicated to his or her professional development as well as the success of colleagues and the firm as a whole

Demonstrated recognized leadership within the firm and outside the firm

Possess excellent team leadership capabilities and abilities

Specialized experience in one or more areas of the firm’s practice

Possess knowledge and expertise to prepare and negotiate complex proposals and contracts with minimal oversight by a Principal

Demonstrated ability to consistently deliver significant project volume on-time, on-budget and exceeding client and firm expectations

Required Experience

Must be a U.S. Citizen

Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.

Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance. Preferred

A bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, interior design or planning may be given additional consideration

Additional consideration will be given for candidates who have obtained the following certifications:

Licensure as a Professional Engineer, Registered Architect, or Interior Designer is preferred

Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) is desirable

Understanding of sustainable design principles and design practices with LEED AP accreditation is preferred

Additional certifications such as CDT, CCS, or CCCA are encouraged to reflect personal growth in the profession and an ever-increasing knowledge base to enhance the design and documentation process

A minimum of 12 years prior experience in an Engineering or multi-discipline Architectural and Engineering firm

Knowledge of A/E Industry and terms commonly utilized in the Federal market

A Senior Project Manager should be able to effectively utilize current company software programs for word processing, e-mail, accounting, and information management. Current programs include:

MS Word

MS Excel

MS Outlook

MS PowerPoint

MS OneDrive

MS Teams

Experience in the use of the following programs is desirable:

Visual Planning

AIA Contract Documents

Newforma Project Center

Various other MS 365 Apps (Power BI, Project, Lists, etc.)

ProjNet (Web-based Application)

Working Conditions

At JMT, we prioritize a healthy work/life balance and offer a flexible hybrid working schedule. The selected candidate is expected to work in a JMT office location at least three days per week or as needed to perform assigned duties. While most of our work is desk-based, there may be times when standing, walking, bending and lifting of minimal weight are required. Our office environment is comfortable, has adequate lighting and temperature, and is free from noise, dust, and other hazards.
