About the role

Nature of Position

This position is primarily responsible for the control of the site. The Store Manager accounts for cash and credit cards, completes daily reporting procedures, controls fuel and store inventory, and balances the daily sales for the site. This position is also responsible for employee relations (e.g. recruiting, training), motivating, developing, analyzing site profitability and for working closely with merchandise vendors. The Store Manager works closely with other members at the site, as well as other managers to create a team approach for the operation and control of the site.

Primary Duties

The Store Manager will demonstrate a high degree of proficiency and consistency in each of the following performance areas: Technical Skills, Leadership, Personal Effectiveness, Understanding in Business, and Customer Responsiveness. The Team Leader will serve as a model for personnel throughout the site. The Team Leader must be highly adaptive and must be able to manage change. The Team Leader must also be supportive of the company programs and policies and projects that support to co-workers and direct reports. Successfully achieving the objectives of the position requires the effective execution of the following responsibilities. The Team Leader may also be assigned special duties as approved by upper management. Your progress will be measured through regular performance appraisals yearly. Part of the appraisal process is shared objectives that consist of the performance measures and other objectives agreed upon with your supervisor.

Technical Skills

Ability to perform basic arithmetic, reading and writing, analyzes and solves problems

Accurately accounts for site funds by completing weekly Armored Car Removal

Maintain proper change levels (Store Bank) also balance daily

Completes payroll on a timely and accurate basis

Prepare work schedule within payroll budget

Resolve shift coverage problems

Counts and balances store inventory on agreed time frames

Investigates and resolves all error letters/shortages/loss issues with manager and team members on a timely basis

Reports all out of tolerance conditions on a timely basis

Assist with Customer Service Representative in balancing daily shift checkout

Counts, reconciles inventory in accordance with company & division policy

Accounts for the following and keys data into the back office system:

Sales reporting daily (by 11:00 AM)

Competitor price surveys daily (by 8:00 AM)

Invoice purchases cash/charge in C-store and Scan Group

Retail inventory adjustments and update shelf labels

Payroll Monday (by end of business)

Coupons/Gift Certificates

Lottery Reports (Lottery audit done weekly on Monday)

Incident Reporting

Immediately notifies the corporate office of any report discrepancies

Knowledgeable in company procedures related to safety, alcohol, tobacco laws

Ensure proper inventory levels are maintained to avoid run outs or overstocks

Monitor vendor activity and compliance with check in policy

Updates back office information board with targets and projections for the site team

Operates register and other POS equipment as needed by the site

Understands and implements the merchandising standards set by Triumph Energy, including promotions and appropriate POS

Changes fuel prices in a timely manner

Monitors sales, shortages, and manpower targets for the site; works closely with Assistant Manager and Customer Service Representative to resolve issues associated with meeting these targets

Perform self-maintenance within approved guidelines, identifies maintenance issues and calls home office personnel in emergency situations

Works closely with Customer Service Representatives in creating a team approach to customer service and housekeeping to assure Mystery Shop, Responsible Alcohol Sales targets, and brand inspection targets are met.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent experience; fundamental knowledge of retail marketing, preferable in the petroleum, convenience store or fast food industries; strong administrative and analytical, interpersonal and leadership skills

Ability to lift and carry cases of merchandise such as motor oil, soft drinks, beer, bags of ice, and groceries, etc. (Up to an approximate weight of 25 pounds).

Ability to frequently bend, stoop and reach in order to reach safe drops, under and over counter supplies and goods, Make changes to outside reader board, etc. Must be able to use arms above head/shoulder level.

Climb a ladder or step up to reach supplies in overhead area. Use arms above head/shoulder level.

Stand for periods up to eight hours.

Perform maintenance duties as necessary, i.e. cleaning windows, mopping floors, painting, cleaning the lot, cleaning restroom facilities, etc.

Aid and assist customers at fuel island- Including performing full service duties for disabled customers at the fuel island.

Operate all safety equipment, i.e. emergency cut off switch, fire extinguisher, etc.

Operate all store equipment including cash register, adding machine, telephone, coffee dispenser, fountain machine, etc.

Read and write English.

Must have the ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers.

Ability to work alone and capable of summoning personal assistance during all medical emergencies.

On call 24 hours for site operations
