Product Owner (Mid-Level)
Experience Required: 3-5 Years Job Type: Full-Time
Job Summary
We are looking for a mid-level Product Owner with 3-5 years of experience to own the product backlog for one or more product areas, translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements, and work closely with cross-functional Agile teams to deliver value iteratively. The ideal candidate is comfortable balancing stakeholder priorities, technical feasibility, and customer needs to keep the team focused on the right work at the right time.
Key Responsibilities
Own, maintain, and continuously groom the product backlog, ensuring it is prioritized by business value and clearly understood by the development team
Write clear, well-structured user stories with detailed acceptance criteria and definition of done
Define and communicate sprint goals in collaboration with the Scrum Master and development team
Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholder requirements, gathering input from business, customers, and internal teams
Participate actively in sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
Partner with the Product Manager (or equivalent) to align sprint-level execution with the broader product roadmap and vision
Make day-to-day prioritization trade-off decisions, balancing new features, technical debt, and bug fixes
Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and validate that delivered features meet business requirements before release
Work closely with UX/UI designers to ensure requirements translate into intuitive user experiences
Communicate progress, blockers, and release timelines clearly to stakeholders and leadership
Analyze customer feedback, usage data, and support trends to inform backlog decisions
Define and track key product metrics/KPIs to measure feature success post-release
Support release planning and go-to-market coordination for new features
Collaborate with engineering to understand technical constraints and dependencies affecting scope or timelines
Required Skills & Qualifications
3-5 years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or in a related Agile product role
Solid working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodology, including backlog management, story writing, and sprint ceremonies
Hands-on experience with Agile tooling - JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar
Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional communication skills
Comfortable engaging with technical teams - working understanding of APIs, system architecture, or data flows sufficient to have informed conversations with engineers
Data-informed approach to prioritization, with basic familiarity with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Power BI, or similar)
Experience translating ambiguous business needs into clear, testable requirements
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to stakeholders
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner) or PSPO (Professional Scrum Product Owner) certification
Experience with roadmap planning tools (e.g., Aha!, ProductPlan, Productboard)
Exposure to A/B testing or experimentation frameworks
Basic SQL skills for independent data pulls/analysis
Familiarity with UX/UI design principles and design handoff processes
Domain experience relevant to the hiring team's industry (e.g., fintech, e-commerce, SaaS, healthcare)
Soft Skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills across both technical and non-technical audiences
Analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable making prioritization trade-offs
Ability to influence without direct authority and align diverse stakeholders
Adaptable and comfortable operating with some ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
