Thomson Reuters is investing in a modern Infrastructure & Cloud Engineering technology stack as a core capability across its Legal, Tax, Risk, News, and Corporates businesses. We are seeking a senior Technology Leader to define and drive the technical direction for how Infrastructure and Multi-Cloud platforms are built, governed, and scaled across the organization.

This role leads a global organization of Infrastructure & Cloud Engineering professionals responsible for delivering a broad portfolio of services across our cloud and co-location estate. You will build and grow a diverse global team of 150+ engineers, with end-to-end accountability for hiring, performance management, and talent development, while driving engineering excellence across service design, delivery, and operations.

You will also play a critical role in elevating technical standards across Thomson Reuters by coaching and mentoring Principal and Staff Engineers, strengthening architectural rigor, and ensuring the consistent delivery of production-grade systems at scale.

As Vice President, Infrastructure & Cloud Engineering , you will report to the Head of Platform Engineering and join a high-performing, fast-paced Platform Engineering organization at the heart of Thomson Reuters’ technology strategy. You will own:

Platform & Tooling Integration

Define and drive the technical direction for platform capabilities engineering across Thomson Reuters, including cloud infrastructure and evaluation platforms ensuring seamless integration with the broader platform estate

Be an Infrastructure and Cloud platform evangelist - advocate to push the envelope on what is possible and translate vision into executable roadmaps

Provide technical leadership and guidance for all Platform Engineering Infrastructure teams, setting standards and driving engineering quality across the organisation

Own Cloud architecture, governance and partner on cloud transformation initiatives and hybrid identity strategy; ensure secure, scalable, and compliant cloud environments across multi-cloud estates

Oversee compute server environments and lifecycle management; manage virtualization platforms (Hyper-V) including performance and capacity planning

Provide technical leadership across enterprise networking (LAN/WAN, firewalls, VPNs, SD-WAN)

Own storage, backup, and disaster recovery strategy and execution; define and manage RTO/RPO targets across platforms; lead DR planning, testing, and continuous improvement

Maintain financial accountability for managing budget forecasts and actuals

Performance & Scalability

Own the quality bar for security, scalability, and reliability of Platform Systems; define and enforce observability and performance standards for core product workloads operating at enterprise scale

Define, publish, and evolve TR’s cloud-native engineering standards, including reference implementations; support adoption through office hours and direct engagement with product engineering teams

Lead architecture reviews for core infrastructure systems entering the production estate, driving standards compliance and shaping the Platform Engineering portfolio ahead of demand

Lead platform development and delivery across multiple cloud vendors (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI), ensuring consistent operational excellence across the estate

Provide proactive technical guidance on engineering platforms and oversight to delivery teams - fostering DevSecOps, scalable microservices, and design patterns optimised for scale, stability, security, and operational efficiency

Lead technical evaluations and build-vs-buy decisions for core infrastructure, evaluation platforms, and developer tooling

Collaboration & Leadership

Collaborate with senior leadership to collectively define and own the vision for the set of capabilities and services, aligning to company strategy and evangelising throughout Thomson Reuters

Collaborate with engineering leaders across Thomson Reuters to drive cohesion, standards, and best practices - fostering a strong culture of engineering excellence

Partner with Product Engineering, Service Management, Security, InfoSec, Legal, Privacy, and Standards & Governance teams to ensure engineering practices are auditable, compliant, and production-ready

Drive engineering productivity and developer experience initiatives, including Consumer Success engagements

Represent Platform Engineering in M&A technical due diligence where cloud posture and modern engineering practices are in scope

Support infrastructure integration for acquisitions, including migrations and network design; ensure alignment with enterprise standards as the environment scales

Hold direct line management responsibilities for global teams - delivering performance reviews and defining annual department goals and metrics

Represent Thomson Reuters externally at engineering, platform, and architecture forums to learn from and influence industry best practices

Container Platform: Container Platform Management and Support

Mainframe: Mainframe Platform and Workflow Management

Location

This hybrid role can be based in any of the following hub locations: Eagan, MN; Frisco, TX or New York, NY.

About You

Your are a fit for the VP, Infrastructure & Cloud Engineering role if you possess the following skills and experience:

15+ years of experience building and operating enterprise-scale systems, including 5+ years in Infrastructure and Cloud Engineering focused on production environments

Deep technical credibility with hands-on experience in cloud and infrastructure, with the ability to lead architecture reviews, set standards, and drive engineering quality at scale

Proven track record designing and operating multi-cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI), with strong understanding of the full cloud lifecycle from architecture through operations

Strong expertise in cloud migrations, tenant and service integration, and applying security principles across complex environments

Deep knowledge of enterprise networking (LAN/WAN, cloud networking) and high-availability system design

Experience managing complex, multi-vendor infrastructure environments (e.g., Cisco, Arista, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Juniper)

Demonstrated success leading and scaling global engineering organizations, with the ability to translate complex challenges into production-ready outcomes

Strong leadership capability in building, developing, and retaining high-performing teams

Ability to operate effectively across all levels of the organization, engaging with senior leadership and cross-functional partners including Product, Security, Legal, and Procurement

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing technical standards and architectural decision records

Proven ability to drive execution and deliver results in fast-paced, innovative environments

Nice to Have

Graduate degree in Computer Engineering or a related field

Prior experience leading infrastructure and Cloud engineering teams at large enterprise-scale organisations

Experience running large projects or workstreams, including exposure to large-scale technology transformation programmes

Experience in legal, tax, financial services, or other regulated information businesses

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.

For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $198,200 USD - $368,000 USD.

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
