Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Industrial Electrical QA/QC Inspector to oversee quality assurance and quality control activities for electrical construction projects involving High Voltage (HV) transmission systems and Medium Voltage (MV)/High Voltage distribution systems to validate Mechanical and Substantial Completion. The successful candidate will ensure all electrical installations comply with project specifications, client requirements, applicable codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements while supporting safe, efficient project execution.
Job Description
Perform QA/QC inspections of electrical installations for HV transmission lines, substations, and MV/HV distribution systems and some 12kV Circuits.
Verify installation of transmission structures, conductors, insulators, grounding systems, switchgear, transformers, cable systems, and associated electrical equipment.
Review engineering drawings, IFC packages, specifications, procedures, and inspection test plans (ITPs).
Conduct field inspections to verify compliance with project requirements, NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI, OSHA, and client standards.
Witness electrical testing including:
Cable insulation resistance (Megger)
Hi-Pot testing
Transformer testing
Relay and protection testing
Ground resistance testing
Continuity and functional testing
Monitor contractor workmanship and verify adherence to approved installation methods.
Identify deficiencies, issue non-conformance reports (NCRs), and verify corrective actions.
Review material receiving inspections and ensure traceability of electrical components.
Maintain QA/QC documentation including inspection reports, punch lists, turnover packages, and quality records.
Coordinate inspections with project management, engineering, clients, and third-party inspectors.
Support commissioning activities and final system acceptance.
Skills Required
Minimum 5+ years of QA/QC inspection experience on industrial electrical construction projects.
Demonstrated experience with High Voltage transmission line construction (69kV–500kV preferred).
Experience with Medium Voltage and High Voltage underground and overhead distribution systems.
Strong knowledge of:
Electrical substations

Ability to read and interpret:
One-line diagrams
Three-line diagrams
Wiring diagrams
Schematics
Construction drawings
Working knowledge of:
NEC
NESC
IEEE Standards
ANSI Standards
OSHA Regulations
Experience preparing QA/QC reports, inspection records, and turnover documentation.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic quality management systems.
Electrical Journeyman License or equivalent field experience preferred.
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or coating inspection experience is a plus.
Experience with utility, EPC, or renewable energy transmission projects preferred.
Familiarity with commissioning and energization procedures.
Education/Training/Certifications
High School Degree or GED
NETA Certification (preferred).
OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification.
First Aid/CPR Certification.
NCCER Certified
Additional Requirements
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to climb transmission structures and navigate construction sites when required.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Pay Rate/Salary
Pay Rate $100 - $125/ hr (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)

This QA Engineer role pays $100k-$125k/yr. Within typical range for qa engineer roles in United States.
