About this Role:
An Engineer II within our Central Transportation group, will direct and supervise field staff to achieve quality construction in accordance with the plans and specifications of the project. May be responsible for small to medium-sized construction projects requiring multiple disciplines. Work responsibilities encompass all areas of office engineering, field engineering, inspection, project controls, and contract administration.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Management
Ensures project conforms to plans, specifications, and applicable standards.
Directs and oversees the work of field staff.
Assist the Resident Engineer (RE) in project management responsibilities. Will act as RE in RE’s absence and may serve as RE on smaller projects.
Cost & Schedule Management
Review design and bidding documents.
Responsible for the initiation and preparation of change orders.
Review contractors’ payment applications, change orders, and equipment-vendor payment requests, making recommendations to RE.
Responsible for the review and approval of invoices and payment applications which may include final payment.
Oversee construction progress and review contractor schedules.
Contract Administration
Prepare and maintain proper documentation of all project-related activities.
Assist with project close-out both internally and externally.
Assist RE in preparing weekly meeting minutes as needed.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate required
5+ years related experience
Ability to use a computer, the Internet, and word processing, spreadsheet, and email software
Additional Requirements / Skills / Working Hours / Compensation Range
$120k-160k annually
