This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will apply standard engineering techniques to design, develop, and maintain instrumentation, power supply architecture or controls systems. Develops new and modifies existing PLC or HMI applications, interfaces, or embedded controls. Participates in set-up and commissioning of new facilities or upgrading of existing facilities. Troubleshoots and resolves malfunctions and makes recommendations that will improve efficiency or quality of operations. Documents specifications and operating procedures.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Project leadership in all aspects of industrial control system, PLC hardware applications, design, fabrication support, PLC Software development

Design new and modify existing electrical power and controls schematics, single line and interconnect diagrams

Design new and modify existing assembly drawings of designs

Design of Electrical Ground Support Equipment used to support a launch vehicle charge/discharge system

Design of Launch Vehicle Electrical Umbilical & Disconnect Systems

Design of Launch Vehicle Launch Ready, Commit, Abort Control System

Design of Electrical Control systems used in ground support functions for fluid or mechanical operations

Assist in peer review of internal and external supplier design documentation

Work directly with technicians to progress fabrication, installation, and commissioning of new or modified systems at any Blue Origin site

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience

1 - 5 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:

Ground Up Design & Operations of Launch Vehicle Power & Control Systems

Launch Vehicle Electrical Umbilical & Disconnect Systems

Data Recording Systems

Simulator Designs for Ground & Launch Vehicle Systems

Control Systems for “Launch Vehicle Ready” Commit Signals, Including Pyro Devices

Industrial control system design using Rockwell or Siemens hardware

Experience with AutoCad Electrical

Cable design using Mil-Spec connectors

Experience with Microsoft Office products

Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

Working Knowledge of AFSPCMAN-91-710

Knowledge of NEC 70, NEC 70E, NFPA 79, UL508A

Familiarity with 38999, 5015, RNJ and other Mil-Spec connectors

Familiarity with industrial control systems from Rockwell or Siemens

Familiarity with IPC620

Familiarity with USAF certification processes for EGSE systems, as applied to launch vehicle power, umbilical and control systems

Ability to apply NEC electrical standards and NASA & CCAFS regulations for hazardous systems, as they affect requirements development, system activation, final certification, and operations/maintenance

Experience of Creo with Windchill

Experience with SCADA packages

Ability to obtain a top-secret clearance

Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.

Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
