About the Role

Embdes Engineering Solutions Pvt. Ltd. is looking for an experienced Senior Android Test Automation Engineer to lead the automation strategy for next-generation Android-based Instrument Cluster (AOSP/Android Automotive) platforms.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Android system-level testing, AOSP, UI automation, Python-based automation frameworks, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing, OTA validation, and embedded automotive systems. This role requires close collaboration with software developers, system architects, and validation teams to ensure delivery of high-quality, safety-critical automotive software.

Product Scope

The role involves validation and automation of:

Android-based Instrument Cluster (AOSP / Android Automotive)

Cluster UI, animations, alerts, and safety-critical ride screens

Android system services and background processes

Vehicle signal integration (CAN, ECUs)

OTA Updates (A/B Updates, Rollback & Recovery)

Embedded Hardware Validation

Key Responsibilities

Automation Strategy & Ownership

Define and own the end-to-end automation strategy for Android Instrument Cluster platforms.

Identify automation opportunities based on product risk, stability, and safety requirements.

Define automation coverage goals and release quality gates.

Ensure automation is executed primarily on embedded hardware platforms rather than emulator-only environments.

Automation Framework Development

Design and maintain automation frameworks for:

Android Cluster UI

System Applications

Alerts & Screen Transitions

Android System Services

Boot, Suspend, Resume and Reboot scenarios

Develop scalable Python-based automation frameworks supporting Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing.

Android System Validation

Automate validation of:

Cold Boot

Warm Boot

Suspend & Resume

ANR Detection

Crash Detection

Watchdog Reset Validation

Memory Leak Detection

CPU & GPU Utilization

Thermal Monitoring

Measure and track:

Application Launch Time

Touch Response Latency

Input-to-Render Timing

Collaborate closely with Android development teams to improve observability and testability.

Performance, Power & Connectivity Testing

Define and automate validation for:

Power States

Boot

Idle

Ride

Standby

Sleep

Performance KPIs

Cold/Warm App Launch

Convert field-reported defects into automated regression suites.

Reproduce customer issues on hardware benches.

Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using automation logs, traces, and diagnostics.

CI/CD & Reporting

Integrate automation suites into Jenkins/GitLab CI pipelines.

Enable unattended execution on Hardware Test Benches.

Publish automation dashboards and quality reports.

Track regressions and improve release quality.

7–12+ years of experience in Android or Embedded Test Automation.

Strong experience with Android AOSP and Android Automotive platforms.

Hands-on expertise in Python automation framework development.

Experience with UI Automator for Android system-level automation (Mandatory).

Good working knowledge of Java/Kotlin.

Experience working with CAN, ECU, and automotive embedded systems.

Strong debugging and performance analysis skills.

Experience integrating automation with Jenkins/GitLab CI.

Exposure to Yocto is a strong advantage.

Educational Qualification

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Experience in Android Automotive or AOSP platform validation.

Strong understanding of embedded automotive software architecture.

Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.

Ability to work independently and lead automation initiatives.

Experience collaborating with global engineering teams in Agile environments.

Pay: ₹558,115.86 - ₹1,954,294.68 per year
