In this role, you will establish, implement, maintain, and enforce quality system processes that support products in a production environment. As needed, measure, analyze, and improve quality system performance consistent with organization quality goals, integrate quality system applications between engineering, manufacturing, and operations to ensure the consistent and ongoing use of quality best practices and communication of quality issues, and facilitate troubleshooting of quality issues with teams, lead causal analysis activities to drive to root cause and corrective action.

In addition you will perform reviews and approve manufacturing build documents including work orders and nonconformance records.

You will perform periodic audits of the application of our quality system in accordance with AS9100, recommend initiatives and/or changes that will improve product and system quality, and provide quality assurance subject matter expertise to inspection, manufacturing and test. Periodically, you will interface with internal and external customers on quality related concerns and develop training materials to build quality awareness. In this role you will report directly to the Director of Quality in Huntsville.

As part of a hardworking team of specialists, you will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of developing, testing and launching Space systems to support Blue Origin’s Vision.

Qualifications:

Minimum of a B.S. in engineering/science or American Society of Quality, Certified Quality Engineer certification

10+ years’ industry experience in the engineering field with at least 8 years in a quality engineer role

Quality assurance experience in production environment. Aerospace, space launch, military/commercial aviation preferred

Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9000 Quality Management System and/or related quality systems and programs

Extensive understanding of ASME Y14.5-2009 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

Green Belt

Desired:

Quality assurance experience in rocket engine production environment

Relevant experience in transitioning a product from development, through production to operations

Quality Management System audit experience

Quality performance measurement analysis capabilities

Six Sigma, Black Belt, or comparable certification

Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.

Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
