PURPOSE
The Second Cook has the skill set allowing the kitchen leaders to utilize them to prepare basic stocks, as well as the ability to produce all items from the restaurant menus. The Second Cook is a utility type team member with good basic skills. In charge of all aspects of food production and service in their station, this position also assists with banquet production as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 3-4 years previous cooking experience as a Second Cook
Understanding of proper preparation techniques and adequate quantities
Formal culinary education (Diploma/Certificate) strongly encouraged
Must supply own knives and have excellent knife handling skills
Flexible with assigned tasks
Must be personable and able to multitask while under extreme pressure and maintain composure
Must be creative and passionate about the culinary arts with the ability to learn and adapt new techniques and styles as instructed
Must be available for shift work
Must be able to work in a team environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Outgoing, friendly and positive
Level 1 Food Safe Certification required
Level 1 First aid an asset
