Role description

Senior Business Analyst

UST is seeking a highly analytical Senior Business Analyst with strong problem-solving and solution design capabilities. The ideal candidate will possess deep experience translating complex business challenges into practical technology and process solutions, while demonstrating independent decision-making and strategic thinking.

This role requires a professional who can work autonomously, challenge assumptions, think beyond existing processes, and provide well-reasoned recommendations. Experience within the insurance domain, particularly underwriting operations and workflows, is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Analysis & Solutioning

Analyze complex business problems and identify scalable, business-driven solutions.

Partner with stakeholders to understand challenges, evaluate options, and recommend optimal approaches.

Apply critical thinking and root cause analysis to address business and operational issues.

Drive solution discussions and influence business decisions through data and insights.

Requirements Engineering

Elicit, analyze, and refine business requirements for complex initiatives.

Develop high-quality user stories, business rules, process models, and acceptance criteria.

Break down large business requirements into actionable deliverables for delivery teams.

Ensure requirements are aligned with business objectives and measurable outcomes.

Insurance & Underwriting Collaboration

Work closely with underwriting and insurance business teams to understand operational challenges and opportunities.

Support underwriting transformation, modernization, and process optimization initiatives.

Ensure solutions align with underwriting business objectives and regulatory considerations.

Data Analysis & Decision Support

Analyze business and operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.

Perform root cause analysis and provide actionable recommendations.

Leverage data-driven insights to influence strategic and operational decisions.

Solution Delivery

Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, and Development teams throughout the SDLC.

Participate in solution design discussions and validate proposed approaches.

Support SIT, UAT, and business readiness activities.

Ensure delivered solutions achieve intended business outcomes.

Required Skills & Experience

8-10 years of Business Analysis experience in complex enterprise environments.

Strong experience in requirements elicitation, user story creation, and acceptance criteria definition.

Demonstrated ability to think critically and independently solve business problems.

Proven track record of recommending and driving business-focused solutions rather than simply documenting requirements.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to ambiguity.

Ability to work autonomously and quickly understand new business challenges.

Excellent stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills.

Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies, JIRA, Confluence, and process modelling tools.

Experience with SQL, data analysis, and reporting concepts.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the Insurance industry, with strong understanding of Underwriting processes and workflows.

Experience supporting Insurance Digital Transformation initiatives.

CBAP, PMI-PBA, or equivalent Business Analysis certification.

Experience working with distributed and global teams.
