The Opportunity
In this critical role, you will translate strategic mine plans into executable medium-term operational schedules that maximise safety, efficiency, and value.
This position commences supporting our high performing team at our client site across the Rio Tinto Rehab Project, working on an 8D/6X roster.
You will develop detailed designs that integrate operational feedback, optimise equipment utilisation, and enhance production outcomes. Working closely with key stakeholders, you will adapt plans to changing site conditions, support continuous improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory and environmental requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Produce executable rehabilitation schedules as per the scope of works
Monitor schedule compliance, analyse variances, and recommend corrective actions to meet production targets
Collaborate with survey team to ensure rehabilitation designs are implemented in line with scope of works
Assist with managing, tracking and recording seeding requirements
Collaborate closely with operations and the client to ensure plans reflect current operational capabilities and constraints
Collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure plans and designs adhere to all standards, safety regulations, and environmental conditions
Optimise fleet allocation, haulage routes, and cycle times to improve productivity and reduce costs
Update and verify spatial data, geological models and survey information for accurate planning
Identify and implement improvements to planning processes, tools, and scheduling methodologies
Provide guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, promoting planning discipline and operational understanding
What is Required:
Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or equivalent - WA Quarry Manager Certificate of Competency highly regarded
Open to entry graduate applications with exposure to operational mining engineering or technical mine planning roles
Skills in mine planning software (Vulcan, Surpac, Deswik, MineSched) with advanced skills in MS Office, Power BI and GIS tools highly regarded
Experience using GPS machine guidance systems (Trimble Earthworks) and analysing operational data to inform plan and design outcomes highly regarded
Ability to develop realistic, achievable plans in collaboration with multiple functional teams
Experience with open pit operations, shift scheduling, equipment allocation, haulage optimisation, and integration of environmental conditions into plans
Understanding of ore blending, grade control, QA/QC, geotechnical constraints, and safety standards in tactical planning
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative and agile mindset
