This is a full-time training and growth opportunity for a candidate interested in structural engineering, building inspections, forensic investigations, construction documentation, and project management. The position is designed for someone who wants hands-on experience in both office-based engineering work and field site visits.

PESCO Engineering LLC specializes in building design, structural inspections, milestone inspections, mitigation/restoration work, and residential structural assessments throughout Georgia. The selected candidate will assist with active projects while receiving direct mentorship and training from a licensed Professional Engineer.

This role is intended for a candidate who wants to grow into greater responsibility over time, including project coordination, construction administration, client communication, technical documentation, and future leadership within the firm.

Primary Responsibilities

Performing site visits with the Senior Structural Engineer to observe residential and commercial structures.

Documenting field conditions through photographs, measurements, sketches, notes, and written observations.

Assisting with structural assessments involving foundations, framing systems, roof systems, retaining walls, structural distress, moisture-related damage, construction defects, and building performance issues.

Supporting structural design tasks under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer.

Assisting with construction administration, including field observations, contractor coordination, RFIs, shop drawing reviews, and project follow-up.

Communicating professionally with clients, contractors, property owners, vendors, and internal staff.

Helping manage projects from initial assessment through final documentation and completion.

Supporting day-to-day office operations, scheduling coordination, file organization, project tracking, and client follow-up.

Learning the technical, operational, and leadership skills needed to grow into a future project manager or engineering leadership role.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Engineering Intern certification or EIT status preferred, but not required for the right candidate. Entry-level candidates, recent graduates, and motivated interns are encouraged to apply.

Strong interest in structural engineering, residential construction, forensic inspections, building assessments, and construction documentation.

Ability to read or learn to read construction drawings, structural plans, engineering documents, and field reports.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.

Ability to work in both office and field environments.

Comfortable performing site visits, taking measurements, documenting conditions, and interacting with clients and contractors.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, PDF tools, and general project documentation software preferred.

Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Tekla, or structural analysis software is a plus.

Preferred Skills

The ideal candidate will have some exposure to one or more of the following: Structural design concepts. Residential or light commercial construction. Building inspections or field observation.

Construction drawings and technical documentation. AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Tekla, or similar software. Project coordination or construction administration. Technical writing and report preparation.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is dependable, teachable, organized, and serious about building a long-term career in structural engineering.

This is not a desk-only position. The role requires field work, site documentation, client interaction, contractor coordination, and participation in real engineering projects. The right candidate should be comfortable learning in the field and applying that knowledge to engineering documentation and project management.

This position is a strong opportunity for someone who wants direct mentorship from a licensed senior structural engineer and wants to grow into a project manager or future engineering leader.

Benefits and Growth Opportunity

Direct mentorship from a licensed senior structural engineer.

Hands-on exposure to structural design, forensic inspections, building assessments, mitigation/restoration work, and construction administration.

Balanced office and field experience.

Training in client communication, project coordination, technical documentation, and engineering operations.

Clear opportunity for professional growth within the firm. Performance-based bonus opportunity tied to completed project work. Potential path toward project management and future leadership responsibilities.

This is a full-time position. Standard work is generally Monday through Friday, with occasional schedule adjustments based on project needs, site visit availability, or construction-related coordination.
