About the business unit

We help conceive, drive, and implement transport solutions for cities, regions, and asset owners/operators around the globe. From preparing the business case and advising on related issues - such as revenue, procurement, and environmental legislation - to delivering the completed infrastructure and helping maintain it. Our planning, engineering, environmental and management skills cover the whole project cycle. We play a major role in developing and delivering the Global Transport Sector Strategy.

Overview of the role

Join us to shape the future of transport in Ireland. We’re looking for a Chartered Transport Planning Lead to drive strategy, delivery, and growth across our transport planning and modelling portfolio.

Based in Dublin, you’ll lead high-impact projects, inspire multidisciplinary teams, and build lasting client relationships across Ireland and the UK.

This is a senior leadership role combining technical excellence with commercial acumen. You’ll guide project delivery, champion innovation, and our presence through business development and stakeholder engagement.

The role offers the successful applicant the opportunity to balance leadership in the delivery of complex projects ensuring technical excellence and innovation, with the requirement to engage with Local Authorities and transport authorities to our client base, grow our project portfolio and help shape the future of our division in Ireland.

This is a senior leadership role for someone who blends technical excellence with commercial insight, driving innovation, winning work and influencing the future of sustainable transport in Ireland.

What you’ll do:

Lead transport planning and modelling projects from bid to delivery

Manage teams and resources to meet quality, budget, and programme targets

Build strategic relationships with clients, authorities, and partners

Identify new opportunities and shape our growth strategy

Mentor and develop a high performing client focussed team

What will you contribute to the team:

Reporting to our regional Transport Planning Practice Lead the role carries a high degree of autonomy and you will be commercially and technically responsible for managing client relationships, winning new work and then delivering on time and within budget using multi-disciplinary design teams. You will assist in business planning and team development as well as contributing your domain expertise to the teams preparing designs, assuring designs, creating and controlling task budgets and delivery of our projects. Line Management, motivation, development and performance of other direct reports and junior staff are also integral parts of this role.

Candidate specification

The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:

Degree in a related discipline (or equivalent)

MSc or further qualifications related to transport planning or transport economics are of benefit but not essential

Member of a relevant professional organisation (such as IHT, ILT, TPS or ICE) ideally a chartered professional or TPP

Demonstrable senior skills in planning for major infrastructure projects (particularly transport), demand modelling/forecasting, transport business cases, wider transport economics, transport policy & strategy

Professional, strong communication skills with both clients and colleagues, and good report writing abilities

We require a combination of the following competencies / skills:

Strong portfolio of transport planning work and proven track record of winning work

Proficiency in transport modelling and data analysis tools

Experience in leading multi-disciplinary transport strategies, feasibility studies and business cases

Develop and maintain strong client relationships to secure repeat business
