About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded HR Generalist to join our People team. This is a hands-on role, with a particular focus on employee relations, including the management of investigations and disciplinary proceedings. You will act as a trusted point of contact for managers and employees, providing pragmatic, legally compliant HR support across the business.
What You'll Do
Independently lead and manage formal HR investigations, including grievances, disciplinary matters, and workplace conduct issues from initial concern through to resolution.
Chair disciplinary and grievance hearings, presenting findings, making recommendations, and producing outcome letters to a high standard.
Manage appeal processes, ensuring consistent, fair, and legally sound outcomes.
Coach and advise line managers on handling people matters at all stages, from informal conversations through to formal proceedings.
Maintain thorough and confidential case records throughout all ER matters.
Support managers and employees with day-to-day HR queries, providing pragmatic, legally compliant guidance.
Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including drafting job descriptions, advertising roles, shortlisting, coordinating interviews, and managing offers.
Coordinate new starter onboarding and carry out inductions.
Assist in the development, review, and communication of HR policies and procedures.
Liaise with payroll on starter, leaver, and contractual change information, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Any other tasks deemed suitable by line manager.
Skills & Experience
Demonstrable, hands-on experience managing disciplinary, grievance, and investigation processes end-to-end - this is a core requirement of the role.
Confident chairing formal hearings and producing high-quality written outcomes independently.
Sound knowledge of UK employment law and its practical application in the workplace.
Previous experience in a generalist HR role covering multiple areas of the people function.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility and influence managers at all levels.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage a varied and fast-moving workload.
