Job Overview

Markets Technology group is redefining how financial risk is managed, and we're looking for a skilled Python Engineer to be a key part of this transformation. This is a unique opportunity for a Python Engineer passionate about building enterprise-ready applications at the intersection of large-scale systems and cutting-edge AI. Your mission will be to drive innovation across three core domains: architecting and developing strategic backend platforms, creating sophisticated risk algorithms in Python, and pioneering the use of Generative AI to unlock intelligence from vast, unstructured financial data. This role places you at the center of Citi's technological evolution, offering a chance to apply your deep engineering skills to solve complex challenges. While not required, experience in the financial industry is a significant plus.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement sophisticated risk algorithms on Citi's strategic platforms by applying and integrating GenAI foundational models.

Utilize advanced prompt engineering, token usage optimization, and patterns like Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to build efficient and effective solutions using Citi's proprietary data.

Perform hands-on coding, system analysis, architectural design, and end-to-end delivery of assigned projects.

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new platform features.

Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new GenAI techniques and technologies to maximize development efficiency.

Provide technical leadership by driving and performing best-in-class engineering practices.

Produce high-quality, production-ready software that is unit-tested, code-reviewed, and checked in regularly for continuous integration.

Develop and maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for the systems and processes you create.

Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

Proven hands-on experience applying GenAI foundational models, with strong expertise in prompt engineering, token optimization, and related concepts.

Strong technical expertise and professional experience in Python for backend development.

Deep, practical knowledge of Kubernetes for developing and deploying scalable backend platforms and engineering high-performance APIs.

A strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including system design, data structures, and algorithms.

Excellent problem-solving skills and a meticulous attention to detail.

The ability to work independently, manage priorities, and handle multiple task assignments effectively.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience

Possess strong communication and diplomacy skills to effectively guide, influence, and convince others.

Cultivate a high degree of trust and open communication among all project stakeholders.

Inspire a sense of shared purpose within project teams to drive business results through effective leadership.
