About the role

The Steel Fabrication Commodity Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for metal fabrication commodities including sheet metal, stamping and machining components. This role partners closely with engineering, operations and supply chain teams to ensure competitive supplier selection, strong supplier relationships and continuous cost improvement initiatives. The position plays a key role in driving supplier performance, negotiating contracts and identifying engineering savings opportunities that support Carrier's supply chain strategy.

Key Responsibilities

As a Steel Fabrication Commodity Manager, you'll be responsible for:

Developing and executing strategic sourcing plans for sheet metal, stamping and machining commodities.

Managing supplier relationships, including supplier performance, supplier development and contract management.

Leading supplier negotiations to achieve competitive pricing, contract coverage, productivity improvements and cost reduction initiatives.

Driving dual sourcing and supplier risk mitigation strategies to support business continuity and supply reliability.

Partnering with engineering, operations and supply chain teams to identify and implement engineering savings and productivity projects.

Requirements

We are looking for people who are analytical, collaborative and strategic, with strong negotiation and supplier management capabilities. If this is you, get in touch.

As a minimum you must have:

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering or related field.

5+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, commodity management or strategic supplier management.

Experience managing suppliers in metal fabrication processes such as sheet metal, stamping or machining.

Experience negotiating supplier pricing, contracts and commercial agreements.

Strong communication skills and experience working with cross-functional or global teams.

Although not necessary, it would be nice if you have:

Experience driving engineering cost savings, productivity initiatives or supplier resourcing projects.

Experience implementing dual sourcing or supplier risk mitigation strategies.

Global supply chain experience working with suppliers across multiple regions.
