What are we looking for?

We are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer (Java / Spring Boot) to join our team and contribute to the design, development, and deployment of scalable backend systems in a modern microservices environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and event-driven architectures using Kafka, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, resilient, and scalable solutions.

Location: Hybrid – Madrid

Working model: 3 days at client´s office, Sol area, next to the underground.

Language: Advanced English (B2+ / C1 required)

Responsibilities

Work together in a cross-functional team using agile methodologies as part of a DevOps-centric model.

Design, implement, deploy, release, and monitor applications, participating in pull request reviews

Understand business needs by collaborating with stakeholders across different divisions.

Participate in planning and feature refinement sessions with your team.

Collaborate with Solution Architects to design solutions aligned with overall architecture standards.

Actively contribute to engineering communities, sharing knowledge and best practices.

Deliver high-quality code aligned with company guidelines and standards.

Key Requirements

Minimum 4+ years of backend development experience

Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot

Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs

Solid background in event-driven architecture using Kafka (with Avro)

Experience working with microservices architectures

Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker deployments

Proven experience applying TDD / BDD methodologies

Experience in DevOps environments, including production support and incident management (log debugging, monitoring, etc.)

Experience supporting and maintaining legacy applications

Nice to have

Experience with Helm

Knowledge of OpenAPI specifications

Experience with SQL (Oracle)
