About the role

Description:

We are searching for a business-oriented Legal Counsel to join our Legal team in Brazil.

This role will provide legal support to Corteva’s business in Brazil and Paraguay, with primary focus on Crop Protection solutions, including biologicals. The position will also serve as the regional focal point for Legal Operations, leading initiatives related to process improvement, automation, legal technology, reporting, and efficiency gains.

The successful candidate will independently handle low to medium-complexity matters, and support more senior attorneys on higher-risk or more complex topics, while working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external counsel.

Responsibilities may include

Prepare, review, and negotiate commercial agreements and other business-related documents.

Support contract lifecycle management, including contract administration, tracking, repository governance, and reporting.

Manage powers of attorney, corporate authorizations, and related governance processes.

Provide practical legal advice to business stakeholders.

Support business initiatives, commercial programs, product launches, financial solutions offered to growers, and go-to-market activities from a legal and compliance perspective.

Support Ethics & Compliance matters, including trainings, counseling, assessments, and internal investigations, as needed.

Support litigation, including external counsel coordination, reporting, matter monitoring, and ensuring data-driven decision-making and efficiency gains.

Lead Legal Operations initiatives across the region, including process improvement, automation, legal technology, contract review and negotiation workflows, templates, reporting, and efficiency gains.

Work with the business and global functions to identify risks, support compliance, develop appropriate procedures, and deliver practical, business-oriented solutions.

Support more senior attorneys and other members of the Legal team on cross-functional projects, regional initiatives, and higher-complexity matters.

Required Qualifications

Law degree from an accredited law school and active membership with the Brazilian Bar Association.

At least 4 years of relevant legal experience as an attorney.

Experience with commercial contracts and general corporate legal support.

Advanced English writing and speaking skills (fluency strongly preferred).

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple matters, stakeholders, and priorities.

Proactive, practical, detail-oriented, and results-driven mindset.

Strong ethical standards and sound judgment.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior in-house experience in a multinational company.

Experience in agribusiness or other highly regulated industries.

Experience with compliance, litigation management, regulatory matters, or business support in a corporate environment.

Experience with Legal Operations, legal technology, automation, reporting, or process improvement.

Skills & Capabilities

Comfort working independently in a matrixed environment, dealing with ambiguity, simplifying complex matters, and managing multiple priorities efficiently.

Excellent communication skills in Portuguese and English, with ability to collaborate effectively across functions and with diverse stakeholders.

Strong drive for results, ownership, accountability, solid decision-making, high ethical and compliance standards, and ability to lead by example while fostering teamwork and an inclusion and belonging culture.
