Job Purpose
Drive new technologies and mass production developments by market sensing, generating, and developing concepts to meet the established specification with the key purpose of maintaining Honda’s high quality and customer’s satisfaction.
Key Accountabilities
Motivate, guide, or establish the generation of high-level drawings representing new technologies and components by using computer aided design which have been confirmed to guarantee fit, form, and specification by using 2D/3D layouts, calculation/simulation, FTA/FMEA, guidelines, standards, and regulations. These drawings will be utilized for prototype generation, engineering estimates, supplier negotiations, factory assembly confirmations and finally mass production specification setting.
Motivate, guide, or establish project teams to meet the targets and schedule of the development by ensuring deadlines are met, resource needs are coordinated with supervisor, and effectively utilize contractor resources without supervision. Consistently communicate project status and participate or lead project meetings, discussions, and development events. Confirm SED and TE milestones are met.
Motivate, guide, or establish bill of materials to track impacts of new technologies, features, and components by using cost tables, cost simulation software, and supplier quoting to guarantee project team cost targets are maintained.
Generate and develop advanced ideas to improve Honda competiveness by product features and technologies, or by factory or development efficiency without supervision.
Support or lead market quality and VA themes without supervision. Utilize problem-solving methods to analyse root causes. Develop and implement C/M specs as necessary without supervision. Lead recurrence prevention when appropriate.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in related field.
Minimum Experience:
5+ years engineering experience preferably in Power Products or Powersports.
Other Job-Specific Skills:
Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills
Ability to interact/communicate effectively with staff/management
Must be able to operate with high level of confidentiality
Competent in FTA, FMEA, dimensional tolerance stack-ups and application
Competent in analytics, problem solving, judgement, decision-making and prioritization
Competent in drawing and layout skills/techniques, include understanding of CAE principles
Competent in creating a plan and schedule
Competent in understand product development schedules
Working Conditions
Travel: Amount varies based on project demands/responsibilities, conferences, etc.; includes possible overseas travel.
Physical: Primarily works at a desk or scope; frequent keyboarding. Limited kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching, or bending.
Hazards: Risks found in a typical office & shop setting. May be exposed to explosives/flammables, pressurized equipment, toxic chemicals and moving parts.
Overtime: Overtime expected based on project demands/responsibilities.
Maintains professional conduct and follows all departmental, safety DEPARTMENT, and COMPANY policies, Procedures, AND rules.
