Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Data Steward for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Brazil. Our client is a company that focuses on staffing for IT and technical roles for businesses around the globe.
It's a 6-month engagement with the possibility of extension.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience participating in the building and supporting of APIs using resource-based design principles.
Strong experience with modern engineering technologies and data principles, for instance: Big Data, Cloud Compute, NoSQL, etc.
Domain expert in providing insight and authority to working groups.
Demonstrated ability to deliver detailed technical documentation.
Understanding of agile development, continuous deployment, DevOps, and decision science.
Experience in designing data catalogs, including data design, metadata structures, object relations, catalog population, etc.
Familiarity with data management best practices.
Ability to identify gaps in requirements based on business subject matter domain expertise.
Understanding of data warehousing.
Experience mentoring and guiding the activities of junior team members.
Skills in multiple organizational communication and influencing
Experience in process improvement (a new platform is being created, and support is in question).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Be comfortable balancing demands across multiple projects/initiatives.
Solid skills in time management.
NICE TO HAVE
3-5 years of relevant experience.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science, Agriculture, or other related field.
Expert-level experience in the relevant business domain.
Understanding of querying SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
Understanding how to manage data using APIs.
Knowledge of BigQuery.
Experience manipulating data using scripting languages and/or data processing software (e.g., Python, R, Pipeline Pilot, ETL applications).
Experience profiling data, summarizing, and reporting data quality metrics.
Familiarity with the agriculture domain.
Fluency in Portuguese is highly preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide leadership in designing sessions with Stewards, Data Engineers, Engineering teams, Data Scientists, Product Managers, and business and/or IT stakeholders that result in design documentation and business metadata capture.
Understand business capability needs and processes as they relate to IT solutions through partnering with Product Managers and business and functional IT stakeholders.
Participate in data scraping, curation, and compilation efforts to ensure high-quality data for end users and high-quality in-house data through data stewardship.
Implement and utilize data solutions for analysis and profiling using a variety of tools such as SQL, Postman, R, and Python, while following the team's established processes and methodologies.
Conduct discussions across business organizations, lines of business, and countries/hubs to document business logic and data sources.
Lead Open Data efforts, making data FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) to strengthen effectiveness in carrying out its mission.
Provide training and discussions to evangelize these frameworks and objectives - Governance, Data Quality, Data Wrangling, and Best Practices.
Lead a multi-functional and multi-business stewardship network in which to evangelize these frameworks and objectives - Governance, Data Quality, Data Wrangling, and Best Practices.
Assist senior data stewards by sharing best practices in data stewardship management.
Serve as a point of contact for other stewardship resources.
Collaborate with other data stewards and engineers within the team and across teams on aligning delivery dates and integration efforts.
Define data quality rules and implement automated monitoring, reporting, and remediation solutions.
Shape the vision of Data Stewardship, advocate for stewardship teams, socialize the mission of data stewardship, and mentor stewards to align with it.
Set the strategy for implementing automated data quality monitoring based on engagement with stakeholders and technical partners.
Utilize root cause analysis to identify trends and assess the impact of data quality issues.
Coordinate intake and resolution of data support tickets.
Support data migration from legacy systems, data inserts, and updates not supported by applications.
Build a partnership with the Data Governance organization to ensure data is secured and access is being managed appropriately.
Identify gaps in existing processes and create new documentation templates to improve existing processes and procedures.
Create mapping documents and templates to improve existing manual processes.
Execute exploratory data analysis, data cleaning & processing.
Conduct data discovery to understand data formats, source systems, and related components, and engage with business partners throughout the discovery process.
Help answer end-user questions and coordinate with technical resources as needed.
Build a prototype SQL and continuously engage with end consumers on enhancements.
