Job Description:

The Malaga Proving Ground is Based at our Malaga Demonstration & Learning Center (MDLC) in Southern Spain, and tests products, components, and systems to support the Caterpillar Product Groups and Marketing Organizations during the design, development, and research process.

As a Junior Test/Validation Engineer, you will interact with people from diverse technical and cultural backgrounds within different Business Units all over the world and create strong relations.

What You Will Do:

Conducting technical investigations of current and future products, components, materials and processes both in laboratory and field environments with a minimum of guidance.

Works autonomously or with a minimum of guidance from senior engineers on evaluation objectives and procedures to achieve those objectives.

Incumbent provides instructions necessary to complete evaluations.

Operates test equipment and conducts investigation as directed by engineers as well as autonomously to obtain, analyze and summarize data and utilizes assistance of support personnel, as necessary.

Records evaluation results in appropriate form (curves, charts, tables, sketches, photographs) with the appropriate tools (hardcopy, software, etc.) and creation of technical reports.

Easily handles objective, moderately complex jobs without senior engineer’s guidance. Uses understanding of Caterpillar business, products, and procedures to contribute to a team.

Provides input into product and process maintenance

Support senior engineers, managers, and marketing personnel

Junior Engineers may expect to have direct contact with machines and components, working in the lab, field and at the proving grounds, observing, operating, and testing the product or component. Junior Engineers must continuously learn through experience and staying abreast of technology changes. Learning focuses on methods and processes applied to engineering functions, practical application of technical skills, communications and building knowledge of Caterpillar’s products.

Product Testing: Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.

Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.

Degree Requirement

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electronics, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution

What You Have:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electronics, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution

Up to 5 years of relevant experience in hands-on instrumentation of tests setup, including installation of sensors and data collection.

Experience and knowledge in instrumented tests using Data Acquisition Systems such as eDAQ, Dewesoft (or similar) and CANape

Excellent Analytical Skills; Practice of data reduction and understanding

Effective Communications: Fluent in English, Intermediate/Fluent Spanish preferred

Proven ability to work independently, apply theoretical concepts, and collaborate effectively in a team

Understanding of the process of designing, developing and/or research products, components, and/or systems

Top Candidates Also Have:

Advanced technical machine and engine knowledge, and/or troubleshooting experience

Experience with Electrified Vehicles & Machines

Experience in ADAS systems test and Validation

Experience in Automotive Software Calibration

Additional Information:

Travel up to 30% of the time when required

Base Minimum Pay:

€37,305.00

Please note that salary is only one component of the total compensation and benefit package available at Caterpillar.

This position requires working onsite five days a week.
