Job Description:
Join CDM Smith’s award-winning Chicago team as a Senior Engineer and play a key role in delivering innovative municipal water and wastewater projects that make a lasting difference.
Collaborate with nationally recognized experts, tackle complex engineering challenges, and contribute to impactful projects ranging from local improvements to major infrastructure programs across the country. How You Will Contribute
Working with large Illinois-regional and national clients to solve the most interesting engineering challenges in the water / wastewater industry.
Designing pipeline assessment, rehabilitation and replacement projects for potable water and wastewater systems.
Providing engineering support during design and construction for major regional water and wastewater treatment projects.
Leading design tasks by engaging directly with stakeholders throughout capital project design and construction phases.
Participating in project management tasks such as defining scope, managing budgets, and project coordination.
Meeting with existing and prospective clients to support our sales team and facilitate the pursuit of current and upcoming project opportunities.
Enhancing your technical expertise through collaboration with leading professionals within the organization. Technical development opportunities include involvement in industry-leading projects, participation in research and development initiatives, and engagement in conferences.
Providing mentorship to junior staff through structured guidance, work assignments, and technical reviews. Technical mentorship will also be available to support your career growth.

Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of engineering principles of design.
Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, Etc).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a desire for client-facing interactions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
Professional engineering (PE) license. 10 years of related experience.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Compensation
This Software Engineer role pays $110k-$193k/yr. Within typical range for software engineer roles in United States.
