Business Intelligence Officer (3-Month Contract)

Expression of Interest

Immediate start preferred

Based in Tasmania (hybrid / remote flexibility depending on candidate)

We are seeking an experienced Business Intelligence professional to provide short-term coverage while delivering a targeted uplift in dashboard reporting and data visualisation.

Purpose of the Role

This role provides short-term leadership of business intelligence functions, ensuring continuity of reporting while delivering a targeted uplift in dashboarding, data presentation, and insight generation.

The role will strengthen how data is used across the organisation - improving clarity, usability, and alignment to strategic outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Continuity & Reporting

Maintain existing dashboards, reports, and reporting cycles

Support teams with data requests and reporting needs

Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of reporting outputs

2. Dashboard & Reporting Uplift

Review current dashboards and reporting frameworks

Identify opportunities to simplify, improve, and standardise reporting

Redesign priority dashboards to improve: Usability, Visual clarity and Decision-making value

Align reporting with organisational strategy and outcomes (e.g. Theory of Change)

3. Stakeholder Engagement

Work with Executive and program leaders to understand reporting needs

Translate complex data into clear, meaningful insights

Provide guidance on best practice data use and visualisation

4. Capability & Handover

Document improved dashboards and reporting structures

Develop templates or standards for ongoing use

Provide recommendations for future BI development

Key Deliverables (3-Month Contract)

Continuity of all core reporting ✅

Review of current BI environment ✅

2–4 redesigned, high-impact dashboards ✅

Recommendations for ongoing reporting uplift ✅

Skills & Experience

Proven experience in Business Intelligence / Data Analytics roles

Strong experience with dashboarding tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)

Demonstrated ability to redesign and improve reporting frameworks

Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights

Personal Attributes

Strategic thinker with attention to detail

Comfortable challenging and improving existing approaches

Collaborative, pragmatic, and outcomes-focused

We are looking for someone who:

Has experience rebuilding or improving dashboards (not just maintaining them)

Is confident engaging with senior stakeholders

Can simplify complex information into clear insights

Is pragmatic and delivery-focused
