The Education Therapist has accumulated knowledge and experience in planning and facilitating specialized intervention methods with children. A key role of the Education Therapist is in providing customized learning support to children with learning needs and difficulties, and children with developmental delays. Her work involves working directly with the children and/or supporting classroom teachers with strategies for intervention and customizing teaching and learning practices.

Education Therapist has..

§ Diploma or Bachelor’s Special Education or Education Therapy

§ Excellent spoken and written English communication skills to effectively teach children, prepare documentation, and communicate with parents and multidisciplinary professionals.

§ Strong interpersonal skills, work with all levels of staff, professionals, parents and families, and community partners from diverse nationalities and cultures.

§ At least 2-3 years of working experience in the field, ideally in preschool settings.

Roles and Responsibilities

1) Curriculum and pedagogy – Work with the Centre Director to promote Odyssey’s direction for incorporating an inclusive curriculum where teaching and learning practices are differentiated and customized for all children, including children with developmental needs.

2) Interactions and Environment –Guide and support teachers in the design and ongoing review, evaluation and customization to promote learning environments that are conducive to developing children’s positive behaviours, interactions and relationships, as well as efficient and positive strategies in classroom management.

3) Health, Safety and Nutrition, Support policies and processes on appropriate course of action for the protection of children, and promote operational excellence in the day-to-day operational functions and SOPs pertaining to children’s care and well-being in health, safety, nutrition and hygiene.

4) Collaborating with Families and communities; Engage in positive working relationships with teachers, families and multi-disciplinary stakeholders to advocate and support inclusive practices in Odyssey on a regular basis.

5) Business and programme continuity – Support Odyssey’s objectives in delivering outcomes in all aspects of the programme such as financials, enrolment, staff development, customer engagement, curriculum and operation excellence.

7) Professional mastery – Engage in a culture of continuous professional learning for self and others; develop competencies and capability in the area of inclusion through networking, sharing, collaboration, coaching and training.

8) Professional values and ethics; Engage in and embrace the policies and processes for establishing the culture of professionalism; driven by the ECE ethics and professionalism as well as the Odyssey programme philosophy, culture, vision, mission and core values.

9) Teamwork and Collaboration; Engage in and support effective and collaborative work teams, apply decision making, problem solving and emotional competence to manage self and others.

10) Networking and advocacy - Serve as the Odyssey expert and resource person, advocate the brand, contribute to outreach initiatives and actively engage in school and community events as well as home-school partnership and parent education.
