About the Role
McKesson Medical-Surgical is seeking an experienced IT Portfolio Manager to help drive strategic planning, governance, and execution across our technology investment portfolio. In this role, you will partner with business and IT leaders to ensure technology initiatives align with organizational priorities, deliver measurable value, and support long-term business objectives.
You will oversee portfolio planning, prioritization, financial management, and performance reporting while identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency, resource utilization, and technology outcomes. This role is ideal for a collaborative leader who thrives at the intersection of business strategy, technology delivery, and portfolio governance.
What You'll Do
Manage and maintain the enterprise IT portfolio roadmap, ensuring alignment with business priorities and technology strategy.
Support portfolio planning activities, including demand management, resource capacity planning, budget forecasting, and investment prioritization.
Partner with business stakeholders, project teams, and technology leaders to evaluate project requests, establish priorities, and define success measures.
Support portfolio governance processes to drive consistent project selection, execution, reporting, and value realization.
Monitor portfolio performance, budgets, risks, dependencies, and resource utilization across technology initiatives.
Prepare portfolio dashboards, reports, and executive-level presentations that provide visibility into portfolio health and strategic outcomes.
Facilitate recurring portfolio reviews and support decision-making by providing insights and recommendations.
Identify opportunities to improve portfolio management processes, tools, reporting capabilities, and governance practices.
Promote portfolio management best practices and provide guidance to project managers and team leads.
Help ensure technology investments support business growth, operational excellence, and organizational objectives.
Basic Requirements
Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.
7+ years of experience in IT portfolio management, IT project management, program management, PMO, or related technology functions.
Experience supporting portfolio planning, demand management, resource planning, budgeting, or governance processes.
Experience developing executive presentations, reporting, dashboards, or portfolio performance metrics.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and influence decisions across business and technology teams.
Preferred Skills/Experience
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience in a dedicated IT portfolio management or technology governance role.
Experience managing large, complex technology portfolios within healthcare, distribution, supply chain, or highly regulated industries.
Knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, Lean, and hybrid delivery methodologies.
Experience with portfolio management and project management tools such as ServiceNow PPM, Planview, Jira Align, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
Experience supporting technology investment planning, financial management, and value realization initiatives.
PMP, PgMP, PfMP, Agile, or related professional certifications.
Strong executive communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Travel, Work Arrangement & Physical Requirements
Position may require occasional travel to McKesson office locations and business meetings.
Ability to work in a standard office environment and use a computer and other office equipment for extended periods.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
