About the Role

BIM/CAD Technologist – FEC Buildings is an intermediate-to-senior technical role based in Toronto, ON, Canada, supporting multidisciplinary building and infrastructure projects. The position is responsible for producing, coordinating, and managing digital models and drawing deliverables for Field Electrical Centre (FEC) facilities across electrical, mechanical, structural, and architectural disciplines.

The role spans design through construction and as-built phases, including federated model coordination, clash detection, and BIM execution plan (BEP) compliance within a Common Data Environment (CDE). Work involves close collaboration with engineering teams to resolve spatial conflicts and maintain model accuracy across systems.

The ideal candidate brings 5–8 years of BIM/CAD experience, strong Revit expertise, and exposure to multi-discipline coordination on infrastructure or building projects, particularly those involving complex electrical systems or critical facilities.

Key Responsibilities

BIM Modelling & CAD Production

Develop and maintain Revit models for FEC buildings across all disciplines (electrical, mechanical/HVAC, structural, architectural)

Produce construction drawing sets including plans, sections, elevations, schematics, and details to project standards

Manage drawing registers, revision control, and sheet issue tracking throughout design and construction phases

Ensure model LOD compliance per the project BEP at each design milestone

Coordination & Clash Detection

Run federated model coordination in Navisworks or equivalent; lead clash detection sessions and issue clash reports to discipline leads

Coordinate spatial conflicts between electrical equipment (CCRs, switchgear, UPS), structural elements, mechanical systems, and below-grade vault geometry

Maintain RFI and coordination issue logs linked to model elements

Standards & Data Management

Apply and enforce project BIM standards, naming conventions, and file management protocols

Manage model submissions to the Common Data Environment (CDE)

Working experience in Autodesk Forma

Support as-built model updates during construction based on marked-up drawings and site records

Support

Prepare presentation-quality drawings and visualizations for design reviews and owner submissions

Assist engineers with quantity take-offs, equipment schedules, and drawing mark-ups

Provide CAD support for site instruction sketches and field clarification drawings

What do we need from you

5–8 years of BIM/CAD experience on building or infrastructure projects

Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit

Proficiency in AutoCAD

Experience using Navisworks for clash detection and federated model coordination

Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary BIM models across electrical, mechanical, structural, and architectural systems

Experience working within BIM Execution Plan (BEP) frameworks and Common Data Environment (CDE) workflows
