What You'll Do
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Coordinator is a field-based position responsible for coordinating on-site project activities, monitoring progress, and ensuring seamless communication between field operations and project management. This role requires an individual who thrives in active construction environments and can effectively support the execution of hydro utility substation infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
Coordinate daily on-site project activities and serve as the primary liaison between field crews, project management, and client representatives
Monitor project progress against schedules and immediately report status updates, delays, or issues to the Project Manager
Conduct regular site inspections to verify work quality, safety compliance, and adherence to project specifications
Track material deliveries, equipment availability, and resource allocation on-site
Facilitate communication between subcontractors, suppliers, and the project team to ensure timely project execution
Document field observations, progress photos, and daily activity logs for project records
Verify that work meets utility standards, regulatory requirements, and quality specifications
Support change management processes by documenting field conditions and change impacts
Coordinate with safety officers to ensure all site activities comply with health and safety protocols
Participate in site meetings, progress reviews, and coordination sessions with stakeholders
Assist in troubleshooting field issues and implementing corrective actions under Project Manager direction
Support commissioning and close-out activities including punch list management and final inspections
Future employment may require Travel
Additional Information
This is a field based position and the first project will be based in Assiniboia Saskatchewan.
This position is designated as safety-sensitive making employment contingent upon the successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, as well as criminal and general background checks.
Schedule & Compensation
Work schedule rotations are project- and client-dependent and may vary throughout employment. The rotation for the first project is expected to be 21 days on and 7 days off.
When in the field standard workdays are 10 hours (7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.)
Overtime paid at time and a half after 10 hours per day and 40 hours per week
Out-of-town work includes either all-inclusive camp accommodations or LOA and individual accommodations (project dependent)
Requirements
What We're Looking For
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in construction coordination or field supervision roles
Prior utility industry experience strongly preferred, particularly with hydro or electrical substation projects, wind farms, solar farms, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
Large-scale construction project experience highly desirable
Valid driver's license with clean driving record is required
Ability to work in active construction environments and travel extensively across North America
Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and field operations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word) - asset
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for coordinating diverse teams
Problem-solving abilities with capacity to make quick decisions in dynamic field environments
Physical capability to work on construction sites including exposure to varying weather conditions
Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory requirements for utility construction
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents
