Job Description
We are seeking a Senior UX Designer to support the delivery of human-centred digital services. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing intuitive, accessible, mobile-first, and responsive user experiences while working closely with product managers, developers, business stakeholders, and technical teams.
The Senior UX Designer will work across product delivery phases to support user research, prototyping, usability testing, journey mapping, service design, and experience optimization.
Must-Have Skills
Extensive experience using UX design best practices to design user-centred solutions
Strong understanding of mobile-first and responsive design
Ability to iterate designs and solutions efficiently based on feedback, research insights, and stakeholder input
3+ years of experience participating in complex projects/products of different sizes
Experience incorporating user-centred design processes within Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies
Demonstrated communication and mediation skills with business teams and core project team members
Experience ensuring client projects/products progress according to schedule
Expertise with UX tools such as Figma, Axure, Sketch, InVision, Adobe Creative Cloud, JustInMind, and Zeplin
HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React, Angular, or Node.js experience is an asset
Key Responsibilities
Apply UX design best practices to develop high-quality, user-centred digital solutions
Design for mobile-first, responsive, and accessible digital environments
Create wireframes, prototypes, journey maps, personas, design concepts, and interaction models
Iterate designs based on user feedback, usability testing results, stakeholder input, and technical constraints
Plan and facilitate user research and usability testing activities
Conduct user interviews, journey mapping, persona development, and usability testing
Translate research insights into actionable design recommendations
Produce research outputs such as user interview topic maps, interview scripts, synthesis reports, and findings reports
Support end-to-end service design activities across Discovery, Alpha, Beta, Live, or similar delivery phases
Work collaboratively with balanced teams, including product owners, UX designers, developers, and business stakeholders
Communicate design processes, concepts, recommendations, and solutions clearly to clients and project teams
Support Agile/Scrum delivery activities and contribute to continuous UX improvement
Help overcome resistance to change and support adoption of user-centred design practices

Required Experience
3+ years of UX design experience on complex digital products or services
Strong experience with user-centred design, human-centred design, mobile-first design, and responsive design
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
Experience facilitating user research and usability testing
Strong experience creating wireframes, prototypes, journey maps, personas, and research reports
Experience working with business stakeholders, product owners, technical teams, and developers
Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

Nice to Have
Degree or diploma in graphic design
Certification or education in usability, human-computer interaction, or technical writing
Accessibility compliance testing experience
Experience working with Ontario Design System principles or public sector digital service standards
Experience supporting digital products through Discovery, Alpha, Beta, and Live phases
Work Arrangement
This is a hybrid role based in Toronto, Ontario. The successful candidate may be required to attend onsite meetings at 222 Jarvis Street as needed.
Pay: $150,000.00-$174,963.66 per year
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Toronto, ON (Toronto District)
Compensation
This Product Designer role pays $198k/yr. Within typical range for product designer roles in Canada.
