Role Overview
DBS is at the forefront of leveraging data and AI to drive business growth, innovation, and operational excellence. As part of the Regional Consumer Banking & Wealth Management (CBGWM) Unit Data Office (UDO) team, this role will play a critical part in shaping the foundational principles and operating model that underpin how data, systems, processes and AI capabilities are designed and implemented across the organisation.
This is a high-impact, strategic role, responsible for defining and institutionalizing business-led principles and standards regionally across key domains including data, platform/system design, processes, and AI usage. The role ensures these principles are consistently applied across initiatives, influencing design decisions from inception through implementation.
In parallel, the role will lead the implementation and entrenchment of the Project Clear operating model, driving stronger governance, ownership clarity, and execution discipline across CBGWM.
The successful candidate will combine strong system and data expertise with structured problem-solving and business analysis capabilities, and bring the ability to influence stakeholders across Business, Technology, and Platform teams.
Key Responsibilities
Principles & Standards Development (Data, Systems & AI)
Define and maintain comprehensive business principles and standards for data, platforms, systems, processes, and AI within CBGWM
Establish clear guidelines for data ownership, usage, structuring, and control, ensuring consistency across platforms
Provide clarity on how design and implementation decisions should be made across new builds and enhancements
Ensure alignment with regulatory expectations, enterprise data governance standards, business priorities, and technical principles
Continuously review and refine principles to address evolving business needs and technology changes. For example, define business principles for a key data domain such as Customer Master, covering data scope and ownership, lifecycle management, and standards for consistency, timeliness and usage
Design Governance & Implementation Oversight
Drive clear communication of approved business principles to ensure understanding and adoption across all stakeholders
Partner with Business, Platform, and Technology teams to embed approved business principles into solution design, development, and operations
Act as a design authority and governance checkpoint across critical programmes and initiatives
Provide structured review, challenge, and guidance on system design, data flows, and implementation approaches
Drive consistency and alignment across initiatives, minimising fragmentation, duplication, and conflicting designs
Operating Model (Project Clear)
Lead the implementation and institutionalisation of the Project Clear operating model across CBGWM regionally
Define roles, responsibilities, governance structures, and decision rights to support consistent and scalable execution
Establish structured processes for issue management, escalation, and resolution
Drive adoption of operating model principles across business and functional teams
Monitor effectiveness and continuously enhance the operating model to improve efficiency, accountability, and outcomes
Stakeholder Management & Influence
Partner closely with stakeholders across CBGWM, Group CDO, Technology, Platform, and Operations
Influence design and implementation decisions to ensure adherence with established principles and standards
Facilitate alignment across teams and domains, balancing business objectives with control and governance requirements
Communicate clearly and effectively with senior stakeholders and governance forums to drive understanding and adoption
Requirements
Experience
8-12 years of relevant experience in data, systems, platform, or business analyst roles
Strong experience in banking, preferably within Consumer Banking and/or Wealth Management
Proven track record of working across business, technology, and data domains in complex programmes
Experience in defining and implementing standards, frameworks, or operating models
Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders and governance forums
Technical & Functional Skills
Strong understanding of:
Data structures, data governance, and data lifecycle management
System architecture concepts and platform design considerations
Customer data management and identity concepts
AI / analytics use cases and associated design implications
Ability to translate business requirements into structured frameworks, principles and design standards
Strong analytical and structured thinking capabilities
Domain Knowledge
Broad understanding of DBS systems and business domains, with familiarity in Consumer Banking and/or Wealth Management
Familiarity with data privacy, regulatory, and AI governance expectations is an advantage
