Engineer - Lead E&M

The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world.

Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.

Purpose of the Role

Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements. To ensure the successful delivery of the project within the required constraints for time, cost, quality, safety, environment and the community.

Resolve issues that may arises during construction, whether they are related to scheduling, safety, or resource allocation. Provide regular reports on site installation activities and propose corrective actions where needed to recover and minimize risks of schedule delays

Qualifications

Tertiary Qualifications or related discipline such as, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering

Experience

Minimum 5 years’ experience working in the Construction Industry in a similar role – preferred

Experience working on large scale construction projects or other suitable projects works

Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.

Experience with hydraulic structures, hydropower or related industrial infrastructure project

Experience managing site engineers and supervisors

Required Competencies

Ability to interpret electrical system studies and define key risks

Understanding of quality plans and Inspection Test Plans for electrical works, MEP Engineering.

Understanding of current and relevant health and safety regulations, good industry practice and engineering standards

Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

Construction industry knowledge and experience of mechanical systems including steel structures and piping

Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

Ability to read, analyze, and identify discrepancies on engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents

Must work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation

Good understanding of Safety and Environmental legislation and practices and policies.

In-depth understanding of project planning and management in construction industry

Excellent organizational and time-management skills

Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and develop a team.

Advanced skills with spreadsheets, report writing and presentations.

Ability to thrive in a high pressure, fast paced environment

Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively and independently with a positive high energy attitude

Skilled in coordinating daily work schedules, and overseeing multi-trade teams in multicultural environments

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Coordinate the daily works of site engineers, supervisors and Subcontractors

Contract comprehension, commercial awareness and ability to develop substantiated claims

Entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic/magnetic form.

Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.

Compile QA documentation including Work Packs, ITP’s Method statements and Construction verification

Respectfully takes direction and adheres to feedback from construction managers and project managers

Ability to monitor progress of work and proactively review the installation schedule Undertake feasibility and concept level electrical designs for renewable projects

Attend project sites to coordinate and witness testing and commissioning activities

Contribute to regular project meetings, communications and reports to the Deputy Construction manager and/or principal, which provide accurate and timely information to support their understanding of strategic risks, issues, opportunities, impacts and progress

Review construction methods, technical drawings, and mechanical system specifications to ensure constructability, compliance with standards, and alignment with client requirements.

Track construction progress against the program, support planning teams in updating schedules and forecasting completion dates, and flag risks or delays.

Promote a strong safety culture, conduct hazard inspections, and ensure adherence to site-specific HSE plans, and compliance regulations.

Resolve technical, logistical, and trade-related issues promptly to maintain productivity and implement improvements as needed.

Ensuring company policies and procedures are fully implemented. Establishing field procedures and objectives within corporate policies and procedures, as necessitated by conditions at a jobsite

Document and report weekly progress to managers and stakeholders
