As part of our Shared Services group, comprised of Finance, Marketing, Communications, Human Resources, Commercial, Legal and Facilities, we support the business achieve their goals through a range of strong technical capabilities. We ensure delivery of services through the skills of our people, methodologies, and systems.
Reporting to the Director, Finance, Canada, this position has responsibility for the accounting and accounts payable functions in Canada. Working with seven team members, the candidate has overall responsibility for the Canadian trial balances and coordination of the Canadian aspects of external annual audit.
The candidate must be effective at managing a team, possess excellent analytical skills with a desire to use them to solve problems, and possess strong written and oral communication abilities.
Skills:
Strong working knowledge of Excel and SAP.
Effective managerial and people skills.
Ability to work with tight deadlines and a willingness for discretionary effort.
The candidate must be professional, discreet and detail orientated.
Strong critical thinking skills that include a desire to leverage SAP to help find the correct answer to complex account issues
Fluent in English, spoken and written.
Responsibilities:
Review and approve payment proposals in SAP.
Upload and process payment files in RBC and HSBC
Program administrator for the American Express corporate credit card program.
Custodian of the global gift giving budget
Review and approve bank reconciliations.
Work with the Director of Finance, Canada on special initiatives.
Month-end process, review standard journal entries, GL reconciliations, business unit expenses and provide answers to month end review queries.
SME in Concur to answer and provide guidance to employee queries.
Monitor Cockpit (payables) and Concur (claims)
Ensure cash management and cash receipts are posted on a timely basis.
Quarterly expense analysis for the consolidation
Manage the year-end audit, review all GL recs with audit grid, run final trail balances, review accruals for pending payables (vendors and expense claims)
Provide ongoing joint venture project accounting support as required by the Global Project Reporting Manager.
Co-ordinate career management discussions and performance reviews
Compliance & Controls
Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting policies.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
Support audits (internal and external), including preparation of audit schedules.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in accounting
CPA designation (or equivalent) preferred.
Experience
5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience
Experience managing or leading a team.
Auditing experience
Financial Statement preparation
Base salary range: $70,000 - $100,000
