Your Team:
Join Flair’s Finance team as an Accountant, where you will support the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of financial reporting across the organization. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, you will play an important role in month-end and year-end close processes, account reconciliations, and the preparation of financial reporting in line with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
In this role, you will gain exposure to a variety of accounting functions, including internal controls, process improvements, audit support, and financial analysis. This is a strong opportunity for someone with solid foundational accounting experience who is looking to deepen their expertise, pursue or continue working toward a CPA designation, and build a well-rounded skillset within a dynamic finance team
This role is primarily based out of our Edmonton, AB (YEG) or Calgary, AB (YYC) office, with some flexibility.
A Day in the Life:
The duties of the Accountant include:
Support month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
Prepare account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and working papers in line with internal and audit standards
Review and analyze financial transactions to ensure appropriate coding and accurate recording in the general ledger
Investigate and resolve discrepancies and unreconciled balances
Assist with internal and external audits, including the preparation of documentation and responding to inquiries.
Maintain compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy.
Support implementation of new financial systems, tools, or process improvements
Maintain confidentiality of financial data and sensitive information
Take on additional responsibilities and special projects as needed
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
What You Bring to the Role:
The preferred candidate should exemplify Flair's core values of honesty, efficiency, accountability, and respect while demonstrating success in previous roles. Additionally, we are seeking individuals who possess:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Progress toward CPA designation (or interest in pursuing) is strongly preferred
Experience:
Two (2) to five (5) years of progressive accounting experience (public practice or industry)
Hands-on experience with month-end close and reconciliations.
Working knowledge of ASPE and/or IFRS
Exposure to audit processes and internal controls is an asset
Experience in a structured or compliance-driven environment is beneficial
Skills and Abilities:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
Solid understanding of general ledger and financial reporting processes
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office applications
Experience working with ERP or accounting systems; exposure to NetSuite is considered an asset
Eagerness to learn, grow, and continuously improve processes
Requirements:
Clear criminal record check and satisfactory references.
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without restriction.
