JOB SUMMARY
The successful candidate will be an integral member of the catering events team with a specific focus on converting leads into confirmed bookings, contracting, planning, logistics, and collaborating with our banquets and other Mountain teams to deliver an exceptional guest experience from start to finish.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Client Consultation: Consult with clients to understand their requirements and expectations for the event, including site inspections, anticipating guest needs and proactively suggesting solutions and value add recommendations.
Event Planning: Plan and coordinate catering event logistics, including menu selection, preferred vendor referrals, costing, floor plans, event flow, load-in/strike timelines and activities
Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Liaise with internal departments including food & beverage, guest services and operations to ensure highest level of client satisfaction
Optimize Revenue: Stay on top of industry trends, best practices and leveraging this industry intelligence to identify new business opportunities while optimizing existing business by promoting and selling add on activities and services, and prospecting new business opportunities.
Post-Event Feedback: Conduct post-event evaluations and use feedback to make positive internal changes
Administrative Duties: client contracting and event-related documentation including banquet event orders, kitchen sheets and billing. Ensuring Triple Seat is accurately updated with activities, lead status and event details to support accurate forecasting and future targeting.
Stakeholder Relationships: Maintain positive and productive relationships with internal and external contacts, accounts and suppliers
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES
Successful completion of post-secondary degree or diploma
Minimum 2 years of experience in catering sales and events preferred
Ability to think and act strategically; work independently and manage time efficiently
Exceptionally strong oral communication skills; ability to develop rapport and credibility. Ensuring prompt and courteous response provided both internal colleagues and external guests
Effective presentation selling skills and objection handling techniques
Ability to work in a high speed and high demand environment, managing the logistics of multiple events simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines
Committed work ethic; positive work attitude
Creative and motivated individual with a passion for events and guest satisfaction
Exceptional customer service skills
Knowledge of MS products from Word, Excel and Outlook
Ability to work evening, weekends and statutory holidays, when required
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position requires some flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, and other forms of manual tasks.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$58,000 to $65,000 annually
