About the Role

We are seeking a high-caliber Senior Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable backend services and APIs. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in driving architectural decisions, implementing cloud-native solutions, and mentoring junior developers to foster a culture of technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development: Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable backend services utilizing Java Spring Boot.

Architecture & Microservices: Architect and implement RESTful APIs and microservices following industry best practices.

Cloud Engineering: Design and deploy secure, cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS services.

Database Management: Lead the design, optimization, and implementation of database schemas and data models.

System Optimization: Ensure the high performance, reliability, security, and scalability of backend systems; troubleshoot production issues.

Collaboration: Partner with frontend developers and cross-functional stakeholders to define and implement seamless API contracts.

Leadership & Mentorship: Lead system design discussions, contribute to technical planning, and mentor junior developers through constructive code reviews.

DevOps Culture: Implement and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment.

Required Skills & Experience

Core Qualifications:

8+ years of professional software development experience.

Deep expertise in Java Spring Boot.

Extensive experience designing RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.

Cloud & Infrastructure:

Proven hands-on experience with AWS services, including AWS Lambda and serverless architectures.

Solid experience with Amazon ECS/EKS, RDS, EC2, and S3.

Strong experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD practices.

Databases & Design:

Proficiency in SQL with extensive experience handling both Relational and NoSQL databases.

Advanced understanding of software design patterns and principles (e.g., SOLID, DRY).

Methodologies:

Solid knowledge of modern testing methodologies and frameworks.

Strong experience working within Agile development environments.

Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.

Good to Have (Bonus Points)

AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Developer).

Experience with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and Docker.

Familiarity with message-queuing systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.

Knowledge of reactive programming.

Prior experience working on Singapore Government IT projects.

Pay: $4,500.00 - $6,600.00 per month
