Sr Oracle Database Administration
Position Summary
NTT DATA is seeking a highly skilled Oracle Database Administrator to support enterprise database environments across on-premises and cloud platforms.
Acts as a key resource responsible for administration, maintenance, and optimization of Oracle database environments supporting enterprise applications. Ensures high availability, performance, and security while delivering services aligned to ITIL processes, SLAs, and operational standards. This role ensures high availability, performance, security, and compliance of database systems across on-premises and cloud platforms.
The position supports mission-critical environments support both on-premises and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environments, including RAC, Data Guard, ASM, Exadata and modernization initiatives. This role contributes to proactive monitoring, incident resolution, and continuous improvement in database services.
Primary Responsibilities
A. Database Administration Lifecycle Management
Manage full database lifecycle including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and decommissioning
Perform database provisioning, schema management, and storage optimization
Execute database migrations, upgrades, and platform modernization initiatives
B. High Availability Disaster Recovery
Implement and manage Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and ASM environments
Design and support disaster recovery strategies and failover mechanisms
Ensure business continuity through resilient architecture and validation testing
C. Performance Tuning Optimization
Monitor database performance and conduct query optimization, indexing, and partitioning strategies
Perform capacity planning and performance trend analysis
Leverage OEM and OCI observability tools for proactive monitoring
D. Backup, Recovery Data Protection
Define and execute backup strategies using RMAN and enterprise tools
Perform database recovery, restore, and disaster recovery drills
Ensure data integrity and compliance with recovery SLAs
E. Security Compliance
Implement database security controls including encryption, access control, and auditing
Manage Oracle Security, Oracle Key Vault (OKV), and compliance requirements (SOX, HIPAA, etc.)
Apply patches and security hardening practices aligned with policies
F. Cloud Platform Modernization
Administer Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) environments
Support cloud migration, hybrid architecture, and database transformation initiatives
Implement OCI services including monitoring, logging, and automation frameworks
G. Incident, Problem Change Management
Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents and performance issues
Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures
Participate in CAB processes and change management workflows
H. Stakeholder Project Management
Collaborate with application teams, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders
Lead or support database-related projects and initiatives
Provide status reporting, documentation, and knowledge transfer
Oracle Database Administration (Core DBA)
Oracle Exadata Administration
Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard
Oracle Key Vault (OKV) Security Administration
PL/SQL, SQL tuning performance optimization
Backup Recovery (RMAN)
Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
Oracle APEX Development
Secondary / Preferred Skills
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
Automation tools knowledge (Ansible, AWX) would be plus
Replication tools (GoldenGate)
Experience Requirements
Years of Experience: 12+ years
Experience supporting enterprise, high-availability database environments
Experience with cloud migrations and modernization initiatives preferred
Education Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / IT or equivalent experience
Oracle certifications (DBA / OCI / Security) – Preferred
Soft Skills Competencies
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Ability to manage critical production environments
Effective communication and stakeholder management
Ability to work in fast-paced, SLA-driven environments
Team collaboration and mentoring capabilities
