As the Director of Space Strategy and Development you are responsible for leading and working closely with Viasat executive leadership to develop and execute a vision to take Viasat resilient space solutions to a higher level of impact and influence within the National Security Space market segments.

The day-to-day

You are a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit who is passionate in charting new directions, driving needle-moving results, and doing things that have never been done before.

To quickly engage in one of our newest business areas and leverage Viasat's portfolio, you will:

Use your established relationships within the National Security Space community and other end-user and acquisition communities to directly collaborate with existing Viasat partners and to and establish a new and diverse customer base over time.

Have a strong interest in pursuing business growth and innovation including understanding and contributing to business area strategies and developing a deep understanding of how to combine Viasat technologies and capabilities to address customer problems.

Use these skills and enduring customer relationships to help define product roadmaps, evaluate and establish business partnerships, win new business, and help drive other aspects of operating an innovative, results-driven resilient space business.

Bring energy and creativity to the creation and delivery of impactful client presentations and proposals that address the specific needs of a customer with attention to organization, detail, and quality including facilitation of group presentations.

You have a proven track record of developing and implementing strategic plans and building collaborative relationships with the ability to interact with key thought leaders and customers to remain relevant, create potential opportunities, and participate in strategic and industry events for lead business generation.

What you'll need

10+ years’ experience at senior levels across domestic and international National Security Space leadership communities

Proven ability to establish and cultivate strategic relationships by leveraging an established network of contacts within the National Security Space community to solve complex problems in a dynamic, multi-faceted operational environment

Experience collaborating with current and potential customers on applications for, and the use of, leading-edge space communications, networking, information technology, and security solutions

Ability to manage all phases of the business development cycle to successfully close on pursuits, including opportunity development, proposal development, implementation estimating, project scoping, client presentations, and negotiation

Operational mission and acquisition process understanding to translate customer needs into relevant solutions that leverage our current and future technology areas

Familiarity with DoD space missions, architecture, CONOPS and the DoD federal acquisition process

Bachelor’s degree

Up to 30 percent travel
