General Manager - Catering Operations

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, commercially focused General Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our thriving catering business. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic leader who is passionate about delivering exceptional food and service while driving business performance and developing high-performing teams.

You will oversee a team of approximately 10 employees, supported by an on-site Supervisor and Chef. The successful candidate will balance operational excellence with commercial awareness, ensuring outstanding client satisfaction while identifying opportunities to grow the business.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and inspire a team of approximately 10 employees, fostering a positive, high-performance culture.

Coach, mentor and develop team members, empowering them to achieve their full potential.

Build strong relationships with clients, ensuring exceptional service delivery and proactively responding to their needs.

Take ownership of the site's commercial performance, driving sales, profitability and sustainable growth.

Manage financial performance, including budgets, gross profit (GP), labour costs and overall cost control.

Identify opportunities for innovation, introducing new ideas, products and initiatives that enhance the customer experience and business performance.

Work closely with the on-site Supervisor and Chef to ensure seamless day-to-day operations.

Maintain the highest standards of food quality, service, presentation and compliance.

Monitor operational performance, using data and insights to drive continuous improvement.

Lead the team through change, bringing people on the journey and creating an engaged and motivated workplace.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

Proven leadership experience in catering, hospitality, food service or a similar operational environment.

Strong commercial and business acumen with a track record of improving financial performance.

Experience managing budgets, GP, labour costs and operational KPIs.

Outstanding people management skills with a genuine passion for developing others.

Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering consistently high standards.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to manage key client relationships confidently.

A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the confidence to challenge the status quo and introduce innovative ideas.

The ability to influence, motivate and bring teams together to achieve shared goals.

Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
