About the role:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Policy Officer to support the delivery of policy and legislative reform that contributes to organisational and government priorities. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will assist with policy research, stakeholder engagement and administrative support activities that help inform evidence-based decision making and ensure the effective administration of a complex regulatory framework.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong analytical and organisational skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is eager to develop their policy expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the delivery of policy projects, programs and initiatives to ensure objectives are achieved within agreed timeframes.

Undertake research, gather information and contribute to analysis that informs policy development and decision making.

Assist in preparing briefing notes, reports, correspondence, discussion papers and meeting materials.

Coordinate meetings, working groups and committees, including preparing agendas, minutes and action items.

Provide administrative and secretariat support to facilitate stakeholder engagement activities.

Respond to routine enquiries and provide accurate information and advice to internal and external stakeholders.

Maintain records, documentation and databases to support policy development, implementation and reporting activities.

Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to contribute to effective policy outcomes and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

An interest in public policy, government initiatives and contributing to positive community outcomes.

Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to gather and interpret information from a range of sources.

Excellent written communication skills and the ability to prepare clear, accurate and professional documentation.

Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.

The ability to work collaboratively and build positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders.

Sound administrative skills and confidence using Microsoft Office 365 and other business systems.

A proactive approach, willingness to learn and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.

Policy, governance, legal or regulatory experience or, experience supporting projects, policy development, administration or stakeholder engagement activities will be highly regarded.
