South Central Truck & Bus is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead one of South Australia’s major truck dealerships, representing Volvo, Mack and UD Trucks. Backed by the strength, stability and reputation of the CMV Group, this is a rare senior leadership opportunity offering genuine commercial scope, operational influence and the ability to make a meaningful impact across the business.

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will lead the dealership’s day-to-day operations, support a skilled management team and drive performance across people, customers, safety, profitability and operational excellence. This role will suit a commercially astute leader who understands the demands of a busy dealership or heavy vehicle environment and is confident building strong relationships with customers, franchise partners and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

Lead and optimise dealership operations, delivering strategic initiatives that drive growth, profitability, and strong customer outcomes.

Establish and strengthen strategic relationships with Volvo, Mack and UD Trucks networks, as well as key customers and business partners.

Lead and develop a large, high performing team in a fast-paced and demanding environment, fostering engagement and accountability.

Build a positive, high-performing culture through regular performance conversations and a strong focus on capability development.

Champion a proactive safety culture by leading from the front, embedding accountability, and ensuring safe, compliant practices.

Drive financial, inventory, and operational performance to achieve efficient, compliant, and sustainable outcomes.

What we’re looking for

Proven success in senior operational or general management roles, delivering sustained commercial and organisational outcomes

Deep understanding of the heavy vehicle, transport, dealership or related industry landscape

Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing leadership and operational teams

Strong commercial acumen, with the judgement and discipline to drive performance, manage risk, and deliver results

A visible, authentic leader who builds trust, drives accountability, and leads from the front

Exceptional communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement capability

A genuine commitment to safety, customer excellence, team culture and continuous improvement

Proven ability to build and maintain trusted, value-adding relationships with customers, franchise partners, employees and key stakeholders
