Main responsibilities

Independent planning, execution, analysis and documentation of bioreactor cultivations, including implementation of new technologies and scale-up to commercial scale.

Develop data models and implement machine learning/artificial intelligence approaches to generate actionable insights for bioprocess development

Lead interactions with the data science group of Sanofi R&D and other upstream process development groups and implement the learnings.

Leverage statistical approaches (e.g., Design of Experiment or Multivariate Data Analysis), ensuring optimal data structure

Lateral leadership of upstream experimental teams.

Author development reports and ensure successful handover of developed processes to pilot plants and other Sanofi sites.

Support lab heads as deputy upstream lead in interdisciplinary project teams, with other departments, sites, and external companies

Apply and optimize Environmental Sustainability by Design principles into development of new products.

About you

Experience: Hands-on experience with bioreactor cultivations (e.g., Ambr250, stirred-tank reactors); experience in data science, statistical design of experiments, and process modeling; familiarity with digitalization and implementation of new technologies; experience with scale-up and media optimization is a plus; basic knowledge of bioanalytics and process analytical technology (PAT) is beneficial; programming skills in Matlab, Python, or R are an advantage.

Soft and technical skills: Positive, open-minded personality with a high degree of flexibility and a can-do mentality; conceptual and creative thinker with strong analytical skills; proven ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams; excellent communication skills and the ability to manage own timelines to meet project goals; trustworthy and accountable with a strong sense of ownership.

Education: Master's degree in biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, data science, or a related field.

Languages: Certified German at level B2 or higher is required; proficiency in English (written and spoken).
