As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of engineers and technicians, you will provide technical expertise and assist in implementation of all Environmental, Health and Safety programs at the BE4 Engine manufacturing facility located in Huntsville, AL. This role will also support the Jemison facility, warehouse, and Engine Test Stand located at Marshall Space Flight Center as needed.

Weekend D shift is as follows: 5:00PM-5:00AM, Fri/Sat/Sun.

Technical safety program areas include, but not limited to: OSHA General Industry and Construction standards, cryogenics, lasers, robotics, process safety management, and radiation safety. You must have a passion for continuous improvement of a safety culture, building agile safety processes, and solving sophisticated problems and providing operable solutions and be capable of acting with minimal direction on your initiative. You will be key in helping to maintain a culture that emphasizes accountability, discipline, and attention to detail at all levels.

Responsibilities:

Assist the EHS Management and EHS Engineering staff with on-site compliance at the BE4/BE3U Engines and Jemison manufacturing facility.

Support hazardous and non-hazardous process waste stream management along with recycling initiatives.

Conduct daily compliance inspections to ensure compliance with the Blue Origin Health and Safety programs.

Execution of emergency response plans.

Indoctrinate employees and contractors on our Safety Program.

Assist in investigations of injuries and illnesses, as well as near misses.

Deliver EHS training as needed

Serve as site focal point for safety issues and concerns.

Administer personal protective equipment as required per job hazard analysis documents. Supporting development of job hazard analyses.

Perform periodic audits of our Safety Programs.

Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations.

Monitor and adjust wastewater system.

Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to our culture of inclusion.

Qualifications:

5+ proven years in operational EHS roles

Must be able to work Weekend Shift (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) with extended work hours as required

Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations

Knowledge of Injury, Illness and Near Miss reporting practices and processes

Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.

Desired:

10+ years total work

5 proven years in safety or environmental roles

1-3 years in aerospace industry

Knowledge of Alabama State safety and environmental regulations

HAZMAT and/or emergency response team experience

Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.

Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
