Job Description Summary: To perform microbiological, serological, and diagnostic laboratory testing activities accurately and efficiently, ensuring timely reporting of reliable results while maintaining compliance with quality, biosafety, and laboratory operational standards.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

Collect, Receive, label, process, and maintain traceability of laboratory samples accurately in accordance with established procedures.

Conduct environmental monitoring and sample collection activities as required.

Visit farms and hatcheries to review sampling procedures and provide technical support when necessary.

Coordinate sample submissions to external laboratories and follow up on test results.

Perform microbiological testing, including culture, isolation, identification, and pathogen detection.

Perform ELISA testing for disease surveillance, vaccine response and update results on time.

Perform chick post-mortem and sample collection. Ensuring proper disposal of biological waste.

Assist in the investigation of abnormal, unexpected, or non-conforming test results.

Prepare and maintain microbiological media, reagents, controls, and other laboratory materials required for testing.

Operate, maintain, calibrate, and verify laboratory equipment and instruments according to approved schedules.

Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, inventory, and operational readiness.

Accurately record, analyse, verify, and report test results within agreed timelines using laboratory software and reporting systems.

Maintain laboratory records, equipment logs, testing databases, and quality documentation in accordance with laboratory requirements.

Ensure compliance with laboratory quality standards, biosafety requirements, and workplace safety regulations.

Participate in Quality Control (QC), Quality Assurance (QA), proficiency testing, and ring trial programs.

Support laboratory audits, continuous improvement initiatives, and compliance activities.

Support research activities, validation studies, and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Microbiology or Biotechnology.

Skills & Competencies

Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and laboratory software applications.

Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management.

Experience

Required experience in microbiology, serology, ELISA testing, or diagnostic laboratory operations.

Preferred having experience in poultry, veterinary diagnostics, animal health, or biological testing laboratories will be an added advantage.
