Location: New York, NY (Hybrid, minimum 3 days in office)

About the opportunity

I'm representing a well-established quantitative trading firm with a strong multi-decade track record, looking to add a Platform Engineer to one of their specialist platform teams. This is a firm that prioritises the quality of its work over its scale, and where engineers have genuine visibility into the impact of what they build.

Platform teams are small, flat groups of experts working at the intersection of engineering and operations, partnering closely with research and trading colleagues to take ideas from inception to production. If you enjoy solving complex infrastructure problems in a collaborative, low-ego environment, this is a role worth considering.

What you'll do

Design, implement, and deliver scalable, high-performance systems spanning both engineering and operational responsibilities

Build and own automation across CI/CD pipelines, production metrics, and platform infrastructure

Collaborate closely with researchers and engineers to understand stakeholder needs and deliver reliable, efficient systems

Manage capacity and drive benchmark optimization for workloads critical to research and trading

Contribute to the day-to-day support of mission-critical platform systems, keeping them stable through quality work and automation

What you'll bring

Experience in systems programming and/or software engineering

Practical background supporting, debugging, and improving production systems and services

Solid Linux and open source software experience

Familiarity with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code frameworks

Production experience with a public cloud provider, AWS preferred

At least one area of specialist platform knowledge across: HPC, Trading, CI/CD, Kubernetes, Linux, Cloud Infrastructure, or Networking

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Applied Sciences, or equivalent professional experience

Compensation

$190,000 to $225,000 + any potential bonus.
